I think that we are so desensitized to seeing teenagers (that are played by actual adults) being an extreme adult situations, that we don’t notice how heartstopper is a breath of fresh air. I mean they are supposed to be a year younger than the kids in euphoria and I can more relate to taking an “am I gay quiz” than being held at gunpoint by my psycho ex-boyfriend who needs the sex tape(revenge porn) of my friend who had sex with his dad, who didn’t know she was under age at the time.

Okay but at the same time these are completely different shows lol. Euphoria is marketed as being exactly what it is, it’s not like they pretend it’s a show for children. It’s a very extreme show, I won’t act like it’s not, but although it’s not relatable to you, the general idea of the show and the issues of drug use, abuse, mental health are very relatable to some people. It’s literally just up to personal preference for what you want to watch.

euphorias not supposed to be relatable for the specific plot but more so the characters/character arcs/general portrayals, etc rue’s addiction, cassie’s longing for love or the general portrayal of domestic abuse. these shows are incredibly hard to compare, euphoria uses unrealistic wardrobe, makeup and settings with realistic acting, whereas heartstopper uses naturalism and everyday settings. people were subject to different things in high school so what’s not relatable to you may be relatable to someone else. :)

I love that we’re getting a proper LGBTQIA teen show that feels more realistic and not so dramatised, also love the diversity Another great show is Young Royals, it’s a bit more dramatic but honestly another great European show Also I literally cried every single episode of Heartstopper, it was almost concerning, Nick and his mum (Olivia Colman the legend) are just the cutest, I love how she reacts to Nick‘s coming out. Ashley, my love, I have an underrated request from the gays. Motherland: Fort Salem - It has lesbians - It has witches - It has women in the dominant positions of their society (innuendo unintended) without it being all "man hatey" - It has an incredibly interesting and original plot, magic system, and other concepts - Strong female characters (obviously) - Found family and female friendships that fate: Winx saga wishes it was It's like a history rewrite of if the witches of the Salem trials made a deal to save their lives in exchange for their military service. I'm not doing it ANY service but I love it SO much. And even if Ashley isn't interested I hope this has piqued anyone else's interest. Also Charlie is Spanish...so he does have a significantly darker skin tone than Nick in the comics. But yeah, still white, technically. Young Royals is the show for Ash if she wants gay romance with a poc lead! It's darker and so far...not a HEA like Heartstopper is. But it's better than nothing, I suppose.

This show feels like a warm blanket that I wish I had when I started questioning my sexuality back in middle school; I'm genuinely so happy the younger generation is going to grow up having actual good lgbtq+ representation. ESPETIALLY, for me at least, bisexual representation!! I feel like I saw a truly accurate and honest depiction of bisexuality and its awakening and acceptance for the first time (which is kinda sad that it's the first time I feel represented but also thank god it's finally here, it feels so good), that isn't simplified or considered easier cause it's still "half het" or some bullshit or sexualised or just an instant no problem, acceptance and not freaking out like any member of the community! Sorry, I'm not even sure that made any sense and i really rambled on for quite a while but I just love this show so much and it genuinely means so freaking much to me😅

I CRIED the entire show like a baby 😭 I was having a MOMENT and definitely felt akin to you when you are clearly into a series. 😂 I was like damn mother Ashley would be so proud. 🥲 so glad you are finally getting to watching this!!! I definitely agree with you about it feeling scaled to a younger demo but it still very much hit my heart. It gave me that feeling of being that age again- the angst, the uncertainty, the FEELS were all there. I was Charlie in middle/high school. I love this series and am impatiently waiting for season 2!

I love this show so much. It's so refreshing to see a beautifully done love story that is just a love story that happens to be between to men. This is the kind of content the LGBTQ+ community deserves, it's nice to have something pure and happy instead of all of the heartbreak and trauma we normally get (don't get me wrong, I like those series too, it's just sometimes nice to see happy gays ya know?)

Also the author is one of those people. Alice is AroAce. But it's still super cool they have written this story about a situation they've never experienced themselves. Heartstopper is so so important even without the romance aspect...but I do love romance as well.

Heartstopper is so good. As a teen member of lgbtq+ I love this show. it is so realistic, it feels like all these situations could happen and it just works. This show makes me so happy, except it does give many emotions because it is so relatable and understandable and the way it is made gets you invested.
