@dilian2544 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, what kind of elements would you say are going to be compatible for olympic games? If i would have to pick any competitive elements i think 100/200/400m sprints, distance jumps, height jumps could all be implemented into any kind of competitive idea.
@NagyerdeiKorisok4 жыл бұрын
I hope not.. Not yet. This sport is still forming, it would be pretty bad if competition rules dictated the future. Rules would just spoil it in the beginning. What this sport needs right now is exposure. Massive exposure --> more people. Honestly I don't even know what people think about freestyle when they hear about it now. I'm trying to spread the words that this sport exist. If you want to help, you can share my latest videos. I feel my latest works starts to represent this sport accurately, but who knows, maybe in 5 years we double the trick base and these will look like amateur skating.

Nice Video Nandi, you make some really good points on why to start however I would like to point out that freestyle ice skating is far from new, I've been practicing freestyle skating for around 20 years and before I started I knew others that also practiced it too it was just not as popular as it is today. while it has massively grown more and more popular over the recent years with all the awesome meet ups we have had together and set few motivational individuals and groups that have pushed it to where it is today freestyle ice skating has been practiced in the corners of many rinks around the world for decades. its very development derives from figure skating and roller skating and now days to modern dance styles to but anyways keep up the awesome work and hope to see you again someday :)

Maximum respect and I love your videos and have learnt so much ❤ Can I suggest you add links in the video description to other freestylers who are also making content to help the community grow more? The recent video you did about connecting freestylers in different countries in the comments was super helpful. Anyone interested in trick tutorials, aside from this channel which has fabulous content I highly recommend you also check out 'endeavour freestylers' KZbin channel. They also post freestyle ice videos including some fabulous tutorials and are very responsive in requests for specific videos. There are some great resources coming up and we need to make sure everyone knows of them! Last but not least.. again.. great stuff N. Korisok.. you guys are boss ! 😎

I would look for bauer or ccm skates centered around that price. No point in buying 'recreational' skates as they will be too soft and runner will be inferior.

@TheLarryBrown Жыл бұрын
Most people skate without protection. I think that's insane, especially when you are a wobbly learner and expect to fall a lot. I don't know why people on skateboards skate with full protection and skaters don't, the ice is almost as hard as pavement. I fall hard on my knee, cocix, and buttock almost every session. I don't tend to hit my hip, but breaking a hip is a life threatening and life changing accident. I don't want to take up recreational skating only to end up in a wheel chair for the rest of my life. I skate with a helmet, elbow pads, concealed knee pads, padded skater's underwear that protects my hips, buttocks, and cocix, and a hockey shorts that has hard padding on the hips. I can still bruise my knees but I'm here to tell you falling on those knee pads feels like heaven and I couldn't imagine skating without them. I often fall full force right on my cocix and if I didn't have protection it would probably be broken, ending my skating career. The base of your wrists is another vulnerable spot. I was hesitant at first to wear the helmet because no one wears that, but it's no big deal, no one says anything. So my advice....protection: YES.
