US Airways Airbus A320 Takeoff PHL - GREAT ENGINE SOUND

Yup, me too, especially this particular version of the engine. Other A 320 engines have slightly different sound to them. This one i like more, very similar to sounds of engines on 320s flown on in the past via Northwest and US Airways. RIP, US Airways + Northwest.

Yup, I agree. Great engine sound and audio of those engines. I prefer this over the other type of engines on the A 320. RIP, US Airways and Northwest, as both former airlines had these in their fleets.

I flew on a Swissair A320 from Zurich to Copenhagen and on Lufthansa from Stockholm, Sweden to Munich. They are great planes!

its a V2500. CFM56 has creamish white acoustic liners inside the inlet cowl. Also, the pylon attachment is a bit more aft exposing more on top of a CFM56.

The first time I flew was on an Airbus A320. When the engine spooled up to takeoff thrust, I was in aw of the sound, Nothing like you see in the movies. You never hear the roar like in this video. I don't know what kind of engine they use on the a320, but there's nothing like that roar. Music to my ears.

There are two sounds that I hear from this engine. I hear a high-pitched whine, and also a "buzzsaw" sound. The buzzsaw sound is likely caused by the spinning fanblades breaking the sound barrier and creating rapid sonic booms that blend into the buzzsaw effect. But what causes the high-pitched whine?

@artafootman It happens to all engines. If you sit in front of the fans you will hear it (it's the fan blades breaking the soundbarrier) I hear it best on 757s and A320s, but just about all planes make a similar noise.

Couldn't figure it out and from my observations on a VX A320 which uses the CFM spins clockwise, but the IAE seems to spin counter clockwise

Now that i think about it, jet engine and turbochargers seem to have a similar purpose. They both compress air except jet engines don’t give an engine more power. Idk, just a thought that came to mind.

Airbus with IAE engines anyday with an A320. On the A321 however, the CFM56 engines sound better, but both are awesome engines on the A320.

The one thing I do find strange about planes like 757s and A320s is that you never really hear the same sound twice. Even if all you fly on are planes with the same model engine they don't sound the same. I'm guessing it has to do with temperature and air pressure and all that good stuff. And also how much throttle the computers are asking for. Nice video by the way. 5/5
