I know this video is nearly 2 years old but are you still looking for references regarding the Turkish copy of the M5A1 and the scabbard, I also have the M38 converted turkish bayonet too. Personally I would like to keep them but I am more than happy to provide detailed photographs of them and any other bayonets in my collection. I just discovered your channel today and I think you are doing some very great work in this field.

The early scabbards did not have the chape fitted,it was done to prevent damage,it's easy to find m8 scabbards with broken tips.the danish scabbards have 37patt belt hooks on the frog but no M10 fastener.

Hi sir! The production of the M5A1 bayonet began in 1957. As such, it was not used in the Korean War. Best regards from Brazil and congrats for the videos!

You are absolutely right, it was the M5 that was introduced in 1953

I own a Turkish M1 Ersatz Bayonets Air force ground units 1963 - 1973. You give the Turkish Ersatz Bayonets a bad name. But they are well built. It's amazing how the Turkish over the last hundred years have have taken there German / Ersatz and machine them for everything for modern Day history

I have a Danish M5A1 I don't know if the previous owner refinished it but it seems to have been blued apposed to parkerised which has lead to the bluing getting rubbed off over the years do to the retion pieces in the scabbard.

I found one of these in an old toolbox today. It's decently rusty. Should I try my best to clean it? I also collect coins so I'm always paranoid of Taking away something's worth because I don't know if it's even slightly rare.
@pointynotsharp Жыл бұрын
You can certainly remove active rust without removing the value and originality of the item. I actually did a video on the subject a little while ago kzbin.info/www/bejne/jp-9pKunbMp8jrs

cool video need a Danish one it sounds like 😂 you are correct turkish ones are shit I've bought two cause they were super cheap 27 bucks free shipping both had the back end riveted instead of screwed the grips fit lengthwise but they aren't tight and would back and forth. I've taken the grips off and they aren't anywhere close the same dimensions just the same rough shape. I'm currently trying to fit some stuff better so they feel better in the hand.
