Here in the USA, I have been able to collect 1891 & 1909 Arg. Mauser Rifles and the brass, aluminium, wood handled bayonets. The rifles are extremely accurate and the bayonets are beautiful,. I also have an artillery short sword that was probably used as a machete. If only Argentina had not fallen into an internally corrupt condition, what an amazing country it would be today.

Had one of these as a kid. Bought it cheap at a flea market. Aluminum handle. Loved that thing! I actually sharpened it, and used it a lot as basically a machete. Dispatched many vines and tree branches! And I remember I could put my finger in the curved guard and spin it around. I'm sure the sharpening takes away from it a little from a purist's perspective, but I didn't care. Inexpensive and fun! Pointy AND sharp! Lol

One of the best bayonets of the era in my opinion. You get German quality with a style of blade similar to those we see on their Hirschfangers & an Arisaka style guard to boot. Good stuff.

I'm lucky enough to own one of the aluminium handled 1891 bayonets with the crest intact, makes me wonder how many got away with it 🤔? I've only recently discovered your KZbin channel some great information on it 👍🙂

Grew up with a perfect condition 1891 machete as a kid. This bayonets chonky big brother. My step-dad grew up in Argentina and he brought it back to the US in the 60s. Unfortunately it was stolen by a repair man, best I can figure, as after we had some flooding in the basement and called them in it disappeared. Such a shame. It was in perfect condition and I've never found something equivalent to the heft and chopping power while still being as beautiful as a show room sword. You should look into them. The machete is something special.

@@pointynotsharp I still search sometimes in the packed basement but it's definitely gone. It was very sharp and hefty. I have the bayonet but the difference is night and day. The machete was an excellent field tool. The weight and length are perfect for hacking through brush and branches without an issue. Modern machetes never feel as sturdy or capable. I think they are worth the money compared to the bayonet but both are cool.

Also the markings were standard for each part. Im assuming the assembly line/process in order of assembly?

And who couldn't cope with a wealthy, strong and classy Argentina, being a strong force in South America? Yes, you guessed right, always the same s***. But the Modello Argentino is a reminder of that time period. May Argentina flourish again! :-)

Hey I know you made this video like 2 years ago but I have when the aluminum ones. It's got a bullet dent. And it was used it's a little offset it ran into somebody. It is an 11:09. I would like to get a frog leather frog mount. Or something just so you can charge it to anything like a backpack dirt bike. What would I ask for. Anybody know a I'm going to make some. Give me the number can you let me know.. please. I've just been oiling it with a Castro high mileage once a month for years. Mine is very sharp. The metal sheath is awesome. Mine has a 50 caliber bullet dent in it. I'm going to design a rapier version of this. With a longer tip. Slide out blade on the metal scabbard. You'll be on everybody's go bag. I mean seriously how do you feel when these things you can't just the perfect size sword for nowadays .
