The part that's not mentioned in the video, and that you brought up for a second, is that as soon as the first missile hit the convoy, the U.S. Military started jamming all comms in the area. There was no calling for help, no backup coming, and they couldn't even communicate between themselves on the ground because radios didn't work. They heard nothing except the explosions, incoherent shouting from their comrades, and the empty static of a radio that was made completely useless. They were in the dark and death was hunting them.

What's more, this would not go into a full-scale war with Russia since the Russians had denied any of their troops being there, so it allowed the U.S. to operate freely with little risk apart from the troops involved on both sides themselves.

None of these are good examples. Russia has lost on a tactical level many times, yes, their military isn’t invincible, but Russia is good at playing the long game in war. They will simply wait an enemy out until they starve to death, or call ceasefires until they can go for another round. You can push them out of Moscow and they still have the majority of their country left.

The US response reminds me of something I read about the battle of Tali-Ihantala, where Russian tank formations were frequently hammered into oblivion on their staging area before the attack had even began. The eyewitness accounts say that T-34s were turned upside down by the artillery barrages, but not sure how much "crayon" is on that story and whether it's even physically possible.
@eerokutale277
@eerokutale277 Жыл бұрын
It is estimated that #Soviets lost some 600 tanks and 300 aircrafts during the Battle of Tali-Ihantala, after the battle #Stalin and his cronies decided that it would be too costly to conquer #Finland.
@tonsssedell4318
@tonsssedell4318 Жыл бұрын
That certainly would be plausible. Russian tanks back then were even smaller so they could have ejected the entire tank instead of just the turret nowadays. Or there could have been piles of munitions going off from artillery fire making bigger boom big enough to throw tanks like beer cans. The way Russians handled and handle hazardous materials is unsafe by any modern Western - or WWII Finnish - wartime standards.

What’s weird to me is that Gen Surovikin was the one who the American Gen called (3 times), and he said he had no people there. Essentially Surovikin let those Wagner mercs get schwacked, didn’t even bother to warn them off from trying to take the oil plant. Today Surovikin and Wagner boss Prigozhin are close according to a lot of open source information and Ukrainian experts. I guess deniability mattered more than the lives of those men, and those were the well trained Wagner mercs, not the ones they recruit out of prisons. Listening to the original intercepted conversation, they sounded a lot more defeated than the english translation. Btw, same Surovikin that withdrew all the Russian troops from Kherson, the part of the region west of the Dnipro River. Then he got fired/replaced of course.

@@ricardosaavedraflores3038 The US military decimated the Vietcong, and pulled out of the war when the government lost public support. They withdrew from the war and left the South Vietnamese to pick up where the US left off. Basically it was a military victory but considered a complete failure due to the overreaching goal not being met. This is the same thing for Afghanistan. The US military successfully occupied the region for 20 years but was not able to build a local government/miitary that would not fold within days of withdrawing. In the case of the Russia/Ukraine conflict, that's a conventional war, where the United States military would thrive and be able to accomplish its mission within a week of declaration of war. We can see this is true when the United States walked through Sadams military, which was the 4th largest military in the world at the time, in just 6 days. However, you are correct, a nuclear response is possible but rather unlikely. By nuclear retaliation, Russia would condemn itself to complete annihilation instead of just admitted defeat with the Ukrain conflict.

I feel like the US having been mostly at peace (outside of the middle east conflicts) has made a lot of people underestimate what our military can do. Pose a strong enough threat and prove to be formidable enough force, and all you have done is begin the process of reorganizing our entire military in your area to focus on you and you alone. Needless to say, that would be EXTREMELY bad for you. We haven't been in outright combat since the Iraq war, and that was over so fast I think the point was lost. It's impressive, and it reminds me of that Isoroku Yamamoto quote: "I fear all we have done is to wake a sleeping giant and fill it with terrible resolve."

Why they shoot the oil rigs in the first place and why you still call Wagner Russians ? So we call Talibans Americans okey ? Hired Soldiers who are not in the Country army are not representing the Country and can be from all around the world, this is what a Merchenary Army is looking like. If the US troops will shoot at Russian Army like that they will be wiped out very fast by Missles and this battle will be not just shelling at some underequiped people who fired at something without any strategy or what ever. People really belive still today that the USA have superior weapons ? No country have Superior weapons, okey it was a lie the superior weapon is a Nuclear weapon. There is no Bulletproof west that will safe any soldier on this planet from a gunfire from a M16/Ak47 and this weapons are old. There is no Tank on the world that can survive direct hits and will destroy a enemy line by its own. There is no Air Plane that is immortal to Anti Air Defense missles or Gunfire. There is nothing Safe from direct Missle attacks. Hope people understand that the most powerfull country in the world is China and Indonesia if you do not count nuclear weapons because of the amount of soldiers they can provide. It have nothing to do with how new your rifle is or how modern your Airplane is, if you have to face 1 vs 50 then good luck even with the newest tech and the enemy got standart equipment then good luck. The Most important Unit in a Army is the Soldier itself and not a Tank or Airplane.

It seems like there was no misunderstanding at all. The Russians wanted to know the American capabilities and were willing to sacrifice Wagner mercs and Syrian troops to find out. And the Americans were more than happy to let the Russians know… That’s how I read it.

I remember the first time I had heard of the Wagner group was from my PMC roommate that had a run-in with them maybe around this same time. I hadn't heard the name again until recently. From what he described, it sounded like the Wagner group is made up of some immoral people that are no joke on an individual level, but as shown here, a coordinated response from the US military is a force that is unlike any other

There has been tension between the Russian military and Wagner Group for a long time, so I'm not very surprised that nobody passed along intel about US forces in the area to the Wagner guys. I wouldn't even rule out the possibility that the Russians' denial that they had forces in the area was a deliberate *føck u* to the Wagner Group. Though, I can't imagine they predicted that the US forces would use the opportunity to make an example out of them by going all biblical.

The middle east, afghanistan, kosovo-serbia was just bombing and air superiority. I do not trust the modern US soldier. So,NOT a specialist,but what i think happened- The US already knew some Russians were moving in that direction with unclear intentions,maybe some guy called his mom: - Mom im taking an oilfield in a few hours,make dinner blyat. So the Americans put their birds on "Ready?" During that time they prolly tracked some Russians in their base talking about it so they were like,"Is this how WW3 will start,over a stupid oil field?". The moment the first arty started firing the American commander was probably like "This is it!I want everything and everyone in the air!Private,strap me to a rocket,im going in!" They called the Russians just to make sure and of course they shat the pant ,but the funny shaped birds were already on the air so...you-do-you-boo. Again,not an army person,but god am i happy we are in NATO.
