I like how when you know the ending, you notice how Adelaide is getting more unhinged and animalistic like how a tethered person acts, and Red is acting calm and graceful as she’s dodging all of Adelaide’s attacks.

“And to think if it weren’t for you... I never would have danced at all.” That line always gives me chills
@Monochrome2004
@Monochrome2004 3 жыл бұрын
it took me awhile, but then i realized that the only reason they got her into dancing was because the fake adelaide couldnt talk due to being a tether, and dancing was how the real adelaide broke free of the tether (at least somewhat i guess) at first i was like, "okay, but even if fake ade didnt do what she did, the dance still wouldve happened yada yada yada, all the tethers have an uprising" and then i had the realization and it gave me chills. like literally this entire thing happening is fake adelaide's fault. none of the movie wouldve happened if she didnt do what she did. also at the beginning of the movie, when fake ade first tells gabe about the encounter, i like to imagine that she actually remembers how it went down and since she has a soul now (cuz i suspect it took awhile for each other to properly assume their new roles), she's feeling bad for the real adelaide. like she's guilty and ashamed and that's why she was like "she's still coming for me" or something. plus she started seemingly having sympathy to the tethered children, like she knew that they were actually supposed to be her children and was feeling guilty at the end where the truth is finally shown and it looks like she's having an epiphany, i feel it's more like her coming to terms with the full effect of what her swap caused. i guess before then she assumed the same wouldve played out regardless of which side she was on but she just realized (as i did) that the tether-breaking dance wouldnt have happened without the swap
@EmmettTheGoon
@EmmettTheGoon 2 жыл бұрын
@@Monochrome2004 how does the dance break the tether? edit: AAAWWWEEEE shit wait i figured it out. By teaching the "tethered" girl to act independantly, she did something WITHOUT the first step coming from the real version. Sort of like a pipe that isnt supposed to backflow, backflowing.

It is honestly very sad. Neither were evil. Not truly. That’s the biggest secret. They both loved and could love. If they couldn’t at all. Not even a bit. Then that’s real evil. But Adelaide protected her family at all cost. She tried to protect the untethered. Red is a victim too! Absolutely. She saw Adelaide’s world upside down. But sadly no peace could be made and she ended up with a Messiah complex. And it’s just sad...the things they could’ve accomplished if it weren’t for holding onto anger. Both were born from a depraved society and both wanted to do them justice. Red saw the good in the untethered herself. So again. If they would have fought the real villains ie those who created this barbaric experiment...I think they would have been a TRUE FORCE to be reckon with.

I think Red lost the fight on purpose. I think Red felt that she was already dead inside and didn't want to continue living. All she wanted to do was expose the tethered to the world and expose "Adelaide" for the fake that she was to the only person who mattered the most to her, her son. Think about, why was Jason not harmed? Why did Red take "Adelaide" to that room? Red was completely dominating the fight from start to finish. She really could have won anytime she wanted.

So she does not get a Oscar nomination for playing these two roles but someone like Ryan Gosling gets one for not talking and just staring, and Matthew McConaughey gets one for beating on his chest and humming? Oh that's right because the academy has been a joke for a long time and you're not really acting if it's in a horror is it?
@connor7342

@Aumima Mimadino maybe some academy fan can explain I really don't understand, some of the films that are nominated are only just being released here in the UK so it's not the for the audience. I don't really understand how it all works. But they don't seem to consider horror a real genre and when one does get a nomination they try to label it as something else other than horror.

I love the parallels between the dance and the fight- because in the dance Adelaide (the real Red) was graceful, while Red was kind of sloppy, and now in the fight- Red is the graceful one while Adelaide is the one whose attacks are sloppy.

I wonder if Red was truly just trying to kill Adelaide in a prolonged and sadistic way, or somewhere inside her she still hoped for a world where they could both exist, while Adelaide was still obsessed with the idea that one of them had to go down in order for the other to have a life... Just like when they were little kids

Spoilers!! After Adelaide kills Red, and it is revealed Adelaide was actually the tethered one, Jason was found by her in a locker, meaning he both saw everything, and heard everything. So by the end of it, he knows his mother is not fully human, but a soulless counterpart of red. It’s a great twist, truly, i loved this movie. I have to say it’s the best one I’ve watched so far. Jordan Peele has true talent

Adelaide is not really soulless though. She is protects her kids and actually feels bad for the tethered children's deaths too. It all comes down to their environment while growing up.

I love the music in this scene. It would have been so easy to use temp music or the original i got 5 on it, but they went the extra mile and created something new that was still very original.

What I really liked I found this scene oddly funny and dramatic because it feel like a boss battle. The villain gives their evil speech, does a final pose…the music starts and she starts moving around the stage and the fight begins. Kind of find it goofy but it still had some creepiness too it just how and she moves.

I don't get why red don't even try to escape from the exit,but other the that the movie had a very complex ending! the ballet reference is amazing considering the context in odette and odile as characters with a very "black and white" vision of the villain and protagonist

Looking at this with what we know now, it's increasingly hard to know who to root for. The monster who stole a girl's life and became a loving wife and mother... Or the innocent little girl who decided to ravage her stolen world as a monster.
