Surgical tech here too. (Known as an ODP in the UK) Also of Palestinian descent . It’s literally civil war era surgery to they have to make do with. I also can’t imagine the bravery of our colleagues going there to risk their lives to save my people . Sometimes I feel so weak and cowardly because I’m not sure I could do it. I’m not even there and I’ve had to take time off because of PTSD from lost family members . I think I would literally go insane if I was there.

You'll have a better chance of speaking with a human staffer if you call your senator's/representative's home district office instead of the D.C. switchboard number, where you'll almost certainly have to leave a voice mail. I once kept a staffer for Sen. Booker on the phone for 20 minutes giving him an earful about a pharma vote the senator made. That stuff gets back to the boss when their staffers deal with just a handful of negative (but professional) callers, versus the many, many voice mails it takes to get the message across.

Certainly birddogging, protesting, etc. would be better but if people are busy or consumed in their day, making a call is always a great action to take in my opinion. Also, I didn't see any other news outlet asking anyone to take any action. All they did was report on the bill and how congress will vote on it so I championed their take on the subject matter.

Yesterday on our main radio show RTE in Ireland the newsreader was interviewing a doctor who just got back from Gaza and was describing the conditions, the injuries, the 4 year old children with sniper bullets to the head and the newsreader broke down in tears and couldn’t ask his question, then the doctor broke down in tears and couldn’t talk… never heard anything like it in my life.
