The primary mission of the US Navy is to keep the shipping lanes open and free. This was the purpose they were founded when they were sent to battle the Barbery Pirates.

Something IG didn't take into account. Russia is in the process of disarming itself in Ukraine. Add to that, a good chunk of Russia, used to be China. That leads to the following:- Which is easier, attacking a country over miles of open sea, while said country is backed by the US & West, or attacking a country across a river, when said country doesn't have a functioning military, and is only backed by Iran & North Korea??? With the way Russia is throwing men and materials into the meatgrinder, it wont' be too long before they are unable to defend themselves from a ground assault - especially as many of the inhabitants of areas like Manchuria already regard themselves as ethnically Chinese... Were I in Xi's place, I know which country I'd be looking at for a potential annexation, and it's not Taiwan.

Geopolitics is fun, I get countries helping to defend their allies, but it does seem to be one sided. Imagine if Mexico allowed Russia or China to set up shop 6 miles from the Texas border or if Ireland did the same on Europes doorstep, what's fit for the goose should be fit for the gander

Very true. But texas is a bad example... lol the last thing you want to do is provoke texas.. but i see your point. However by allowing them to stay in your nation is also sort of allowing for the possibility of the smoke that comes along with it.

So was it leaked, or was it 'leaked'? Maybe someone thought it would be good for the citizens to know in case they had to deploy troops, rather than find out about it after the fact - and I don't mean a well meaning citizen! 🤔

Yeah people cant grasp that leaked intel can cost american lives... but then again it could have been an unfriendly
