The lack of a Camillus Tang Stamp is problematic for completing your quest, but this knife is still cool and a true find as well. Thanks for sharing both your knife and history.

I remember as a kid in the 1950’s my Father having a knife very similar to that one . Great video, thanks 😊

A cool toothpick, specially like the beveling on the scales, thanks for showing it to us!

I absolutely love the shape of that blade. And I remember really liking that air corps knife when you did the video on it, so subconsciously I guess the Camillus toothpicks must be my favorites in that pattern. Thanks for showing this one off, my friend!

I do hope your quest will succeed, for now you have the closest thing to the Camillus No. 4 Switchback. The simularities are absolutely there. The bladeshape is more appealing then the newer versions. Thank you for the review and also let me express my thanks for the great card i received today, it will get a nice spot in sight. Thank you Tobias.

I bought some real tortoise shell in Mexico before it became illegal to bring it into the US. I've always been a big fan, and like that they make the synthetic versions.

Was that knife old enough to be real Tortoiseshell or is it synthetic?
@KnifeChatswithTobias Жыл бұрын
Definitely not old enough for a US made knife. It is most likely some type of celluloid.

Just curious. When did they stop using real tortoise shell for items like these. Great video.

I have a video about it. But to be honest I’ll need to check my notes. The US knife industry stopped very early on. 1923 sticks in my mind but I’m not 100% sure.

I should add, US companies were still using tortoiseshell for things as mundane as shirt buttons and guitar picks well into the 1977.
