Oh my goodness! I appreciate this because I actually taped this when I was like 11 years old, and watching it now in 2019 is like, crazy. I waited two weeks to record it on VHS. And I remember it now like it was yesterday it's so weird but cool..

"..The international coaches are afraid to send their big stars to the United States.. They can't afford for their big stars to lose in the United States". Girl, no. The American Cup has never been a huge international draw because it's always heavily over scored its own athletes unfairly. They're not afraid, it's just never been worth their effort.

So Amanda Borden is nearly 18 and therefore “just trying to hold on” whereas Shanon Miller is the same age and she has no such comment said about her. Shows how much they know as Borden was part of the Magnificent 7 and team captain
@mht49082 жыл бұрын
I think it’s because Amanda wasn’t as dominant as Shannon and she had to fight for one of the last spots in the Olympic team, whereas Shannon just had to show up, do what she’s capable of and a spot is pretty much a guarantee

Ana Maria’s floor was more impressive than Kristy! But I guess scored lower because less expressive
@mht49082 жыл бұрын
Bican was so good, she should've won in my opinion. Even in today's standards, it's so rare to see stuck landings on every single pass, should've been a 9.850 at least. Kristy's floor should've been no more than a 9.750. It's too bad the Romanian coaches decided to remove her name from the 1996 Olympic team, she could've still gotten an Olympic medal because I think by the time she got hurt it was too late to call in the alternate

It really was a shame. I was really impressed with that Romanian team in the team finals though- all that adversity and they still managed to get the bronze! Resilience at its finest.

Kristi powell was over scored. Look at her floor. Deductions on first pass (Big time) and also on dance… including her triple* turn attempt. She's talented… but should not have won. It's very sad the the American's always get over scored in America. This is coming form a Chicago native.

Its an American event what did you think would happen?????
@amybrown77239 жыл бұрын
Dino Michalopoulos Trust me, America's not the only country it happens in. Did you watch the Beijing Olympics Women's All Around? The Chinese gymnasts were way over scored.
@sandylenzo55256 жыл бұрын
They still finished in the exact positions they deserved though. 3rd for Yilin and something like 5th for the other girl. Whereas in the American Cup often the U.S gymnasts finish in a better difference than they deserve.
@saragrant97492 жыл бұрын
Much like all international gymnastics events were overscored for the Soviets and Romanians before the end of the 10 scoring era. No one seems to have minded that of course.
