The injury Bolt suffered in anchoring the 4 x 100 relay played on his psyche, as it was a very painful injury to him and he let his teammates down from winning gold.

I believe bolt has dabbed with the idea of javellin throw as he said the fundamentals of the sport greatly favors his years of sprinting ...but i think in terms of legacy, bolt might stay retired just like Michael Jordan.. Bolt has cemented his legacy, and further competing (and potentially losing) might diminish the value of his brand in terms of profitablility/financial aspect

Science says we don't lose our speed until about 55 years young. The problem with these kinds of speeds is injuries. It's very tough to stay healthy in this sport. Usain even mentions that he retired bc it was so hard for him to remain injury free.

@@biggalaxy9102 : you're reading what "science" books? Look at the advances in Masters age sprinting and see the drop off, no matter the effort, time and good living habits they have. Look at (particular Finnish) studies that demonstrate the longer foot dwell ground time and hence shorter stride that happens to us well before 55. Our elasticity is on the decline certainly from mid 30s

I think bolt is such a freak athlete that i think he'd win the season. That doesn't mean he'd win every race but he'd make Olympics. Though this depends on the extent on his injury recovery. If all he did was rest and wait for his feet and hamstrings to feel better then he'll struggle to get into shape, but if he had a serious active recovery right after his last season then he will be winning the season. I think he would break 10 again. Probably a few second and third place finishes though.

He is trying to stay relative, Sadly he should never have retired and WADA was on top of Jamaica. He is trying to stay relative and based on some of the new athletes coming through his records will be taken. The media blew way too much smoke up his arse and I feel when he retired the world was his. Then he got old fat and realised he was a runner not a super star. Media has a way of doing this to people.
