the Lemon and Lane show. They stepped up!! QB play was hit and miss. Many misses, but HIT when he had to. Clutch throws on that last drive. A bit risky> the last two pass plays for SC. LR probably didn't want to chance it with our FG kicker. Also, horrible clock management at the end of the second quarter. We need to improve on that! Online played very well!! He's been a bit inconsistent this year, to say the least. It's nice to win with a TD. We FINALLY flipped that script! Fight on!! Marc, thanks for a stellar year of GREAT reporting.

Come on Marc that was not ugly. It was packed with action. It was exciting and had a drama to it. Kept you on the edge of your seat. It was the best game so far from a fan’s perspective the bowl committee screwed this one up they thought it was gonna be a bad game so they put it on extremely late night game should’ve been played earlier so the country could see it.
@LockedOnUSC6 сағат бұрын
Let’s keep it real. It was 7 to 7 at halftime.- it was ugly! We can still love the win and appreciate the entertainment value, however, five interceptions two missed field goals, penalties and a bunch of detailed stuff says put some lipstick on the pig.

Hey Marc, first off, big win. 7 a 6 is a lot better than 6 and 7. Marc, I'm from SoCal, live in Miami now, the game ended here at 2:14AM. I'm too tired this morning to get into about Maiava. I will say this, they need to pony up big and get somebody in the transfer portal. Right now, Maiava is a turnover machine. Anyways, if he is it, Riley better work some "Big Magic" with that guy. Anyways, he played his beast at the end, who knows, maybe he just wasn't seeing the field. FIGHT ON and ON!!!
@johnwhite257615 сағат бұрын
He wasn’t seeing the filed because he wasn’t looking- wasn’t gogin through his progressions at all -missed open guides and through into double coverage . He has a very good arm-not great, won’t run the rpo, makes BAD decisions, misses open guys, it’s obvious why moss started the year. His upside is not big- we are screwed next year. 6-6 is the upside. You cannot be any better than this without a much better QB, op a much more dominant running game. Stop the nonsense we were SOOOO lucky to win this game -an and m took a bunch of stupid penalties and gave us what three critical turnovers ? Dream on, Trojan fans. Your eyes dont lie. 6-13 third downs ? Three INTS? No pressure on opponents qb, worst clock management in nation once again(have we seen enough fo thsi ????) - YOU DONT Winn more than 6 games in big ten with thsoe stats.

Something needs to be done about this substitution rule. You cannot call delay of game when the official won’t let you snap the ball. When the official stops them, the clock should stop if it is within ten seconds and reset the play clock to ten seconds. No substitutions should be allowed once the clock gets down to 15 seconds.

As usual, Marc covers all the main points correctly. First, very happy to see Kyle Ford get that winning TD catch on top of playing a nice game. While Duce Robinson is the one guy I am very unhappy to see leave, Marc is correct, less is more. Lane & Lemon will lead an extremely talented WR group. Additionally, it will be fun to see D'Anton Lynn with a much bigger and deeper d-line. I have a feeling using will be good on defense. Maiava is the big question mark. A sunny day in the Coliseum against Purdue - no problem...On the road in a key game at Ohio State, or Oregon, or even the Minnesota's of the world, concerns me. A lot of upsides and a lot of questions. Hope Longstreet is the real deal!

USC found two freshmen OT that did a great job but whole O-line did enough to give JM time at the end to help USC win the game. JM at times, he looked terrible with his decision making but when JM needed to show up in the 4th quarter especially the last drive with 1:40 something sec left, it was a beautiful thing to watch JM tear that A&M secondaries apart. Physically JM has it but mentally he is not there yet, JM needs to fix his issues or mistakes during the off season or maybe hire a QB coach to help him get better, invest in himself during the off season to be the best QB version of himself. ✌️✌️✌️

Spot on again, Marc…thank you! I think Jayden needs to take multiple, serious looks at all of his bad plays in the film room and work with his receivers daily over the next couple of months. The broadcaster (Osweiler) pointed out how QB Reed would sit down after every series and evaluate his play on the iPad. Jayden and Coach Huard need to do the same. Also, Jayden needs to stop telegraphing his passes and “look” the safety (and the rest of the opposing defense) off of his primary receiver and learn to go through his progressions with only his eyes and not his entire head. One of his best plays was (accidentally) when his primary receiver was covered (to his right) and he found his secondary receiver over the middle (Kyle, I believe) for a very important completion. OL was MAGNIFICENT given the circumstances (which you outlined perfectly), our RB room is set (which you also said), and less is more in our receiver room (again stated by you). Looking forward to your next show! FIGHT ON!!!✌️✌️✌️

Marc My man . Love your analysis, spot on . Here are my hard truths which pretty much align with your reaction . . Jayden can’t be the starting quarterback if SC wants to compete in the Big . He can’t properly read defences . He throws flat footed , is slow and panics when he shouldn’t. On top of it he doesn’t go through his progressions and finally at times throws a flat ball . 2) Riley is really bad . Both again his play calling and his time management. It was like watching the whole season in one game but this time we managed to win because the kids wouldn’t allow it . 3) Lane , Lemon and Ford should have been the starters all year long . It would have made a big difference and could have won some more games . . Summation / SC better get another starting QB , Jayden is not the guy . The receivers , Lane and Lemon are stars and can take the team a long way . Jackson is a star in the making , with the portal running back coming in can make a great combination. I have confidence in Lynn and the defense next year . I think with the new comers coming in will sure up the defense next year. Riley has to give up play calling . He sucks . They are running the ball well and he goes away from it when they shouldn’t. His time management especially at the end of the half was an embarrassment. He is like a deer in the headlights. I thought as in other games that last minute of the first half was going to cost us the game and almost did . Anyway there is much to improve as outlined above next year or we will again be mediocre. Fight On ! I have thoroughly enjoyed your podcasts . Thanks Marc .

Agreed. Jayden is not qb1. Riley had better get a starting level qb when the Spring portal opens. He's gotta get that position right, or USC will find themselves in the same predicament in 2025. The OL looked better but still needs some work and a few veteran reinforcements. Riley better hire an OC and fully embrace the role of being head coach. Period.

An ugly win is always better than a well played loss. LR saved his job, and I am glad of that. I personally think we were in much, much worse shape than we knew or even could have imagined. Transfer portal made LRs first season a good one... that and CW. As high school recruits start being developed we will get hugely better but that takes time. I only can pray that when the NCAA meets next they will massively reform the transfer portal and tie NIL to the players spending their career to the school that's paying the freight.

My thoughts Marc: 1. Thanx for mentioning Killian O'Connor. I was so impressed with his play, I was like..."where has this guy been all year and why wasn't L.R. playing him? I'll tell you, the first thing L.R. should of done when he woke up this morning, was to give K.O. a scholarship. K.O. could enter the portal tomorrow, and with that one game tape, he'd get offers from all over the power-4 conf's. 2. Speaking of K.O. and seeing the issue's with Noa early in the season, why didn't L.R. play K.O. at center, and move Monheim to NOA's spot? 3. Speaking of Noa, he took a lot of grief from fans the first half of the season, but SC fans should give him his props, his played did improve the 2nd half of the season, and probably played his best game last night. 4. Ya'll being too hard on J.M. I have a feeling this time next year, much of the fan base won't admit that they weren't giving him this much grief. Maiava has some teachable issues-sure. But one thing he showed was, he performed his best when it counted the most, which is unteachable. Be careful what you wish for, I've seen lots of fan bases want a got "out of here", only to see the player portal into somewhere else, and then that fan base wished they had him back. Ask OK fans if they wished they had Dillion Gabriel back after saying last year..."he wasn't the guy".

I don't even know where to begin! D hung tough in the first half, Maiava couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, didn't read his receivers, Riley is the worst clock management coach of all time, Lantz misses another shorty in Allegiant and it's 7-7 at half. Come out and suck in the third like they have all year . I'm watching a 6-6 team losing 24-7 in a minor bowl game at 1:30AM east coast time and asking WHY??? Then the 4th quarter happened. Their record is obviously no where near what it should be, but they fought thru all the adversity and were finally were rewarded with an amazing comeback against a pretty good team from the vaunted SEC...Ford, Lane, Jackson, Maiava Lemon, the entire OLine, Shelby, Ramsey, Gentry and more on D. They definitely have the heart and didn't crumble like they easily could have. It does say something about the culture and camaraderie and the coaching on the team. They can be a really good team next year but it's up to them.. They will win more games but how many?? It's up to them..We will see. No more 10+ wins, playoffs, Big 10, Natty...They have to do all that themselves..But they will have a chance to prove to everyone ... It will make the off season a little more enjoyable.

That was Texas A&M’s 2nd, 3rd and 4th string defensive line, so relax with all the praise for our patchwork offensive line, I swear to God, you people will grasp for anything, but the truth! For example, Maiava is pure Shit!!! He can throw a slant when not pressured, and his receivers are covered by Freshman with no snaps all season. The dude totally vapor locks, freezes, almost like what am I supposed to do, oh I know, I’ll throw the ball backwards! I can talk shit, I’ve played in big college games, then went into a career where I was involved in gun battles, craziness going on all around you, and the one thing that will keep you alive ( winning ) is staying calm, not panicking, and do what you were trained or practiced! Individuals who panic, don’t stay calm, lose their shit, get cut, don’t make it, or get their shit rocked, or this job isn’t for THEM! Maiava didn’t hit any post routes, any hitches, any 50/50 balls, not even any curl routes, take that back I think one, all his completions were on slants! The portal closes at midnight tonight, so the only hope, is that one of the playoff team’s quarterback decides to join USC as a mercenary for one season. The only person that meets this criteria is Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers. If he decides to stay another year, and not enter the NFL draft, Texas is going to go with Manning no doubt. There is a rumor swirling that a BIG10 team has a huge offer on the table for Quinn to join their team to increase his draft stock. Friends of mine in Texas tell me it’s USC or Oregon, but if he jumps in the portal don’t be surprised if Ohio State jumps in the race. Ewers knows he needs to do some more to be a day one pick. He has the experience, throws a great ball, is a tough kid, and can RUN the ball!!! He has just had some injuries during his career, also made some costly errors, nothing the QB Guru couldn’t fix. I think Ewers with Lane, Lemon, and running backs Jackson, Pederson and the 1,100 yard rusher from New Mexico via Iowa State, your going to have a guy that will get you into the playoffs, especially with next year’s schedule. If not, SC’s screwed!!!

Anybody going to talk to Maiava about his decision making?

He's a sophomore man. Relax. He knows. You did notice his last 2 drives were TD, TD. Game over and he did it with ease.

The guys who left (Hudson, Branch Bros., Joiner, Duce) showed they were all about themselves and not about the team (unlike Ford eventually learned), and will not be missed when next year is in full bloom. But the guys who stayed and especially who are returning next year (Pregnon, Ramsey, EG, (and hopefully Lemon🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼), et al) say more about where this team and staff are now and are headed moving forward. Hopeful for next season but afraid CLR won’t learn his lessons (which require a mirror).

I think those guys mentioned might have been pointed toward the door. They weren’t pushed out, but I think they were encouraged and coaches made it known which direction they were going. Even when you look at Joyner, you never heard Riley give him glowing reviews and always heard he needed to grow in certain areas. To me, he was the biggest loss, but Bryan Jackson made me feel much better last night.

And what about the guys that left their teams to join USC for the 💰 are they selfish? ( Silver, Jarrett). I'm sure Ramsey and Pregnon are getting something. USC has benefited from the same system. Every player should do what's best for him. It's the way the system is, I don't blame anyone for wanting to get the best deal. Don't take it too personal. I'm a new UNLV fan and our team was gutted after a 11 win season. Those dudes played hard. I'm happy for them if they get a big deal. It's not personal to me.

@ Guaranteed Ramsey and Pregnon got something, but their draft stock probably wasn’t high enough to declare now and thought another year being coached up by our “NFL” guys would help them next year.

@@hrpickinstuff so after the game last night, I’m talking with someone affiliated with the USC football program, and we were talking about how these players deserve to make money, but at the same time they are ruining it for future college players. There’s only going to be so much money to go around because a salary cap will be put in place. Do not be surprised if programs reduce how many players they want on scholarship that they want to pay to look more like an NFL team. There’s no good explanation for why you need 85 scholarship players, when you only travel 70 on the road. And in the NFL they make it work with 53 players available plus a practice squad. And now, with these players making more money in college than they will in the NFL, don’t think for a second that the billionaires NFL Owners club isn’t looking out for their own self interest in the future. If there’s less players available because they’ve already been paid and can play five or six years in college , why do it professionally?

Riley building a good competitive no quit culture team. Now he needs to work on his game management skills ,we need a Qb, JM not him.

Marc, our castle functions best with warm to slightly hot water, especially as we cross the 50's. Cold agua actually shocks the system, causing our plumbing to sputter a little. Part of Japan's longevity was due to hot liquids until the tentacles of Little Boy started rising to the surface. In visiting Colombia last week, restaurants were perplexed about my ordering hot water. Waters in restaurants came in bottles, they lacked the infrastructure to serve a glass of hot water. You have coffee, correct? so, bring me the waters without coffee!! They brought me a half cup of water; daughter leaned over and reminded me I was not in the states. How about those Trojans? Fight On!

Good riddance. You glazing alumni fanboys ruin these comments sections anyway. Marc is keeping it real about the state of this program, and pointing out the obvious red flags about Lincoln Riley's inefficiencies. You fanboys want confirmation, not information that's sometimes critical.

Great game, now fire Riley quietly and lets move on. Its fools gold like last year. What's the definition of insanity?

Time to move on from LR. Buy out his contract and go get Urban Meyer or John Gruden, believe me that will change the culture. The true question is does USC want this football program to be great or not.

Don’t think it’d be smart to bring in another play caller as chances are they’d not be as good as Riley - being the head coach & calling plays works pretty well for Andy Reid ✌️✌️✌️
