Give Pete his flowers for this one. He took a song he didn’t write and made it utterly his own. As great as the original is (and it’s one of my favorites), Pete beats it with an acoustic guitar, bass, and piano. Makes it feel it even more resolute and desperate at once. A lesson in personalization

Had to walk back to Southport, about 40 miles. The two friends with me wernt too pleased with my irrational purchase. All night they wernt too pleased with my irrational purchase. It was about 3pm the next day I had it on the turntable, that night I knew every word off every song, every clap of thunder, every seagull every, wave on the beach every train. In 2013 they toured with it again, the 40 th anniversary. It was in the echo arena, Liverpool. That night I witnessed the greatest show I've ever seen by 2 live men & 2 dead men. The footage wes fantastic with lots of unseen film of the Ox & Keith. A good friend of mine recommended me this song, it was just as good as the original, sadly he passed away this past year. I'll always remember our friendship and conversations. R.I.P AJ

Wonderful. A fan of The Who and The English Beat but I never knew Mr. Townsend covered this song.

"love the incorporation of the piano" Agree, but don't rule out the subtle bass-line as well. This is a true gem indeed.

I remember renting a live Pete Townshend concert video in 1986 called Deep end. It had Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd playing too. This was one of the songs. If anyone comes across it please post it.

One of the best versions of one my favorite songs. Townshend is simply amazing. Wish he’d come back to NYC and play some !

This sounds more like a Pete Townshend song than most Pete Townshend songs.

I'd be honored if some P.T. fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of SLITSKIRTS and A LITTLE IS ENOUGH on my YT channel in tribute to the master of lyricism & composition. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and keep on rocking.
