Dear Darren, As you know I'm not much of an OpenToonz user as much as I'm a ToonBoom Harmony but this is wonderful and professional quality content. Keep up the good job! :)

Thanks Alon Dan. Much appreciated. OpenToonz is coming along in leaps and bounds. It's an exciting time for us users of it.

It's best one colors the joint lines areas with the color of the body or where it joins. It saves the stress.
@DarrenTAnims7 ай бұрын
Yes it is. Apart from is you want to see a crease, which can look really nice at the elbow and knee joints.

I guess the downside of the raster body parts created in another program is one loses the ability of having OpenToonz do the tweens since you need vectors for that function.
@DarrenTAnims6 жыл бұрын
If you want to use "tweening" then yes, you need vectors. But for this animation I'm using the Animate tool to rotate each body part.

Clever but somewhat fiddly. Could one draw the body parts in another program without the joint lines and then import them? The parts wouldn't be vectors but if drawn sufficiently large and then reduced in size after importing, aliasing wouldn't be a problem.
@DarrenTAnims6 жыл бұрын
Once you've done it a couple of times, the "effects method" isn't too fiddly. (I find the sandwich technique fiddly though, which is why I don't use it). But it's not about the aliasing. It's to allow the body parts to move and have the lines dynamically be hidden. Drawing them in another program doesn't help with that.

If doing from scratch is it always best to do in opentoonz vector for tween availability?
@DarrenTAnims4 жыл бұрын
It you want to use the vector inbetween option, then you have to use vectors. But the level type is dependant on the features you need.
@gagestanifer7240 Жыл бұрын
Is there a way to do this when one of the items to be sandwhiched uses mesh? I have a character whose leg connects to the torso but I also need to use mesh to make the leg bend.
@DarrenTAnims Жыл бұрын
Yes. You just need to connect the mesh to the parent instead of the child drawing.

again i am facing problem, sorry i am distrubing you again and again....... here in sandwich mode, when click on zero, there thickness increases instead of decreasing. and again in effects there is line is not removed....
@DarrenTAnims3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where you're clicking on zero, or what the problem could be. I can't imagine what might increase after you set it up zero. If you can share a screenshot on my Discord, it'll be easier to diagnose the problem.

@@DarrenTAnims actually i am using opentoonz 1.5, is any update from 1.2, as u used 1.2 in ur tutorial??
@DarrenTAnims3 жыл бұрын
@@vikasbishnoi482 I don't think there's any difference between that version and the latest version that could make a difference. I forgot to say, there's a link to my Discord in the video description.

When do you recommend to use this bones tool instead the plastic tool? Seems to me plastic tool needs less work and heave better results.
@DarrenTAnims4 жыл бұрын
It all depends exactly what you need the result to be. For instance, you wouldn't use the plastic tool if you need to have frame by frame animation whilst moving. So you might want to have a hand ball up into a fist as the arm rotates. Or have lip sync on the head column while it moves side to side. If you can do what you need in the plastic tool, then do so. But it's worth knowing there are alternatives.

Darren, I’m also using opentoonz but never used that flow chart thing can you explain that flow chart function basically
@DarrenTAnims4 жыл бұрын
I've covered it in a few tutorials. I don't think I have one that covers only that. I only mention it when it's useful. So if you've not used it yet, it's probably because you don't need to.
