thank you for these videos, i learn so much from them. i always struggle with the hook, and getting it back in right. it always helps me to look up your video and watch it while I put it in. I also love the oil bottle i bought from you, and the new thing you made to keep the thread from comiing out of the first thing you wrap it around in the threading.. i really like all your inventions. i sent my scissors for you to sharpen, and I thought your price was great and you did a great job.

We always did when I worked at a dealer and a Bernina kiosk. When I got my 790 it had not been tested at the dealer. I took it out if box before I ever left and asked for the current sew out requirements. They looked at me like I had lost my mind. Got it done though before I ever left.

I cannot wait to try that trick with my Bernina 780. I had wondered why sometimes the stitch would be wonky and I would have to try adjusting the tension and the bobbin tension but not getting it right.

In a show of support for Bernina owners it would be unbelievably helpful if Bernina’s website had pictures and spec for every bobbin for every machine, not just the still in production machines. They think that there’s no money in it but they’d be showing support for Bernina owners and they WANT owners. Surely by now Bernina knows that some of their dealers aren’t able to keep current, little less look backwards.

Hi Jeff. Here;s my pet peeve: imho ; the bernina L860 serger needs to be recalled. It has software problems and i found another lady with the same trouble /i’m having. The machine locks up. After three screens i cannot get a response to my machine.’i searched the internet and especially tried to find a Bernina Co contact and couldn’t/. The manual does not address the lock up problem. One dealer told me to turn on an off the machine to get ir working (isn;t that a trick I learned to help my app,e 2E back in the early 80s?) hrs later and the week end gone. I took it back to the dealer. He got it started. Wow. I got it home and tried to use it . While running it for the first time the tension let go while in process of the sean. I was astounded to find the machine decided to make all kinds of big, loose, fancy loops. I think the machine needs to be recalled. I’m in my mud 70s, have sewn since 10 yrs old. Have owned: singer treddle, elna (the one with cams from the early 70s, my faborite) riccar, viking (what a workhorses that one was) janome, and faithful air threading BabyLock, tried brother about 2 yrs ago. The se625 has big bag for the buck and is EASY to use. This Bernina serger is my first. What a terrible disappointment. It does not belong on the market with this demonstrated performance. Ya the dealer got it going, by then I had anout 5 hrs of time in due to travel, and internet search and then it got another problem which requires a deal visit. Eill it get fixed for two minutes? The cost of time, effort, money makes this machine terrible. In fact none of my other machine require a service repair visit. It needs to be recalled. BTW, the repair for the lock up is to put pressure on the screen while restarting. Some earlier model had two outter buttons needed to be depressed for reconfiguring the machine. This l860 says to rebooth, but it’s LOCKED cannot get to the screen with the three pressure points. I’d never recommend this company. The folks who sold it to me are very nice. Unfortunately unknown to them, the machine is low class. Your site is full of great information. It’s unique to the sewing machine companies. I’ve learned much and it’s hard to teach an old dog, new tricks. I figure if I leave messages, the bernina ‘powers that be’ will see this and will do something to correct this problem. Maybe you can get through to them. Btw, i;ve tried to locate the site that had a similar problem and can’t find it. It was two ladys from headquarters with delightful accents doing demos. Also other bernina sites have their comments turned off. So I know I am not the only one having an issue with the bernina L860 serger. I’ll post the results of the next dealer visit. Maybe all L860 customers need the big repair manual. I hope I’m not told to reset all the tensions myself, (because the Bernina is so wonderful showing you how,) because that’ll add insult to injury. The machine doesn’t work properly right out of the gate, lock up then decide to make big fluffy stitches all on its own. Be aware and be ware. It’s a Bernina manufacturing problem, not a dealer created one. Thank you for listening.

Great video! I have only used authentic Bernina bobbins since getting the machine in April. But I’ve tried every trick suggested and can’t solve the birds nest issue when stitching quilting type designs using the embroidery module. Pulling bobbin thread up and holding both taught, having the short cut bobbin end short and not holding, holding the upper only secure with a good foot of thread, both short..: you name it. Yellow bobbin case, black bobbin case, needle swaps, trying different thread brands, material, and weights…. I would have loved the bobbin brand vs off-market to be the issue but it’s not. The testing and suggestions here are great but don’t think they’ll help for the embroidery module side, just for the sewing module. What suggestions do you have to help with nesting when using the correct bobbins? Would that trick at the end to pull out of the one circle eye underneath do any good? I’m truly at a loss and that was a big reason I wanted this machine.. was for e2e. Thanks so much!
@MyriamSchweingruber

Birds nests are usually cause by a problem on the upper side, not the bobbin, so re-thread, change thread, needle, etc. to try to find the culprit. Could be a mismatch of the threads, too (e.g. don't use the stichting thread in the bobbin, use a bobbinfil one)

Now I am worried... I purchased my machine in November of 2020 and when I picked it up, it was still factory sealed. I have not had it serviced yet because I do not have that many stitches on and I do make sure to clean and oil it every time I sew. Should I take it in? Should I find another dealer?

Hello, my name is Elizabeth. I have Bernini serger. I bought it at our dealer who has now gone out of business. When I got it I was sewing 6 layers of cotton and it wouldn’t Stichery the left needle stitch. I took it in and they said nothing was wrong and I shouldn’t be sewing anything with that many layers anyway. I’ve changed needles, presser foot pressure and nets. Any idea what to do?

Hi Jeff! I bought a used 765 after I lost my husband 4+ years ago (retail therapy) but I also lost my mojo and no amount of shopping jump started it. Fast forward, I'm trying to sort through all of everything and straighten up my sewing room so I can get back to sewing. I only sewed on the 765 a few times when I first got it (I have many machines) and I think it overwhelmed me with it's technology. Now I can't find my manual - I know it's in that room SOMEWHERE. One thing I didn't do was anything with the embroidery module. Do I need to get the update USB for this series before I try it out? Maybe a tip on where to begin? At this point I don't even know if it works. That part was not a selling point. I started my Bernina journey with a 180 which had all the bells and whistles at the time and I embroidered a lot then but I couldn't keep up with the cost of the updates at the time, so I finally stopped. I'm sure I can still use the preloaded designs but compared to what's out there they are so "elementary". I'm sure Bernina doesn't support the 180 or 200 (which I also own). Sorry to be so long winded. Thanks for your comments in advance.

Hi. I still own an Artista 180 and use the embroidery module. I never did the updates and am happy. Don't worry what other people have. Stop comparing. It's not a contest. Just be content to sew and create. Your heart then will be overjoyed. Sew for yourself. It is not necessary to update all the time. They are designed to be outdated so relax and just have fun. The more you sew the sooner your mojo will return. Good luck!
