Listening to English explanations in English "sounds like music to my ears!" I always use this sentence to explain how much I like to hear this language, and how I feel so happy for understanding it! Since when I was a kid, I learned it so well! It's my escond language, and through it, I speak to a Turkish boy and I learn something in his language as well! Thanks for these amazing tips! Some of English idioms are almost the same as in French. But for instance we don’t speak of the "devil" : on parle du loup. The entire phrase in French is "Quand on parle du loup, on lui voit la queue". Technically speaking, we see the entire person when we speak of her or him!

Vicki says "My ears are burning" when someone says speak of the Devil. She says you can say "My ears were burning." In German, "sprichst du laut" means speak up. Aufsprechen also means speak up but not with a loud voice. It means to participate in what you believe by talking about it. I hope I made sense. I can't find all the English words I want to use. So I write a German sentence, bur sometimes it comes out not making sense. I told Vicki my family didn't take place in Nazi Germany. She said "didn't participate" is the better English translation, but the computer translator keeps translating sentences in exact words. Vicki said it stops working after A1 German. Not everything translates in exact words between languages. Gustav
@InteractiveEng2 жыл бұрын
That's another great phrase. Thanks for sharing, Gustav. And yes, sometimes translators can be unreliable, especially if it's word-for-word. Because when you say something "doesn't take place" it means that it does not happen. For example: The meeting didn't take place. (This means the meeting did not occur) But keep practicing and keep up the good work! You're doing great. 👍

Tbh I don’t like synonym or another way to say for me they are just a waste of time to learn. If there were no similar words all language learners will perfect the language faster. I like being a polymath but not a polyglot there are many people they say that learning English changed their life. If all people speak only one language their life already changed from the very bringing they don’t even needa spend extra several years to perfect English language I hope the world speak only one language soon
