Been working on this grip for a few days and last night played my first time with it. The biggest thing I could tell is my driver was a LOT straighter. Hit some of my best drives. With irons I had some other issues with my swing but the grip really helped. Everyone should watch this video and spend time at the range following it.

Very helpful and informative tips for a 47 yr old who is trying hard to learn how to play golf so I can spend some free time with my hubby on the course! I’ve played softball for almost 40 years and the muscle memory for that sport is difficult to forget in order to learn the proper golf form and approach. After being told for years “don’t golf at it” when swinging, it’s difficult to “golf at it” when I really want to! 😅 Since I’ve started watching your videos, I have made improvements in just a few days though, and am actually getting some solid strokes in! Thank you so much for teaching this old dog, some new tricks!! 👍🏼😁

The most thorough demo of a good, solid grip that I've seen. The short thumb on both hands makes a huge difference. Also, very few videos out there talking about the "trigger finger" and PP3. I've found that just being aware of that pressure point feeling has helped my distance and accuracy. I am also using an older simple aide called "Pure Ball Striker". Hard to find now, but useful. Check it out.

Great content as always Todd... One question. What if your left hand dominant ? Does it make a difference how you start the 45 grip ?
@USGOLFTVshow2 жыл бұрын
Good question, not necessarily. The swing “feel” may be a little different but not that grip.

Hello Todd, I'm from Omaha, I practiced this all winter because I knew I have gripped the club wrong for the last 45 years. I got comfortable with it and struck the ball ok but didn't feel as powerful. Here's the totally weird part. It gives me a bad pain in the back between my shoulder blades. So, my left hand is still correct but if I move the right hand way to stronger position the pain goes away and I can play all day. I'm doing OK with that but it bugs me that I can't hold nit correct. Totally weird but may be a side effect if being an "experienced golfer" haha Thank you for all the great content!

So would u say for the left hand, place the shaft right above the bottom knuckle on your pointer finger to below the bottom knuckle on the pinky finger?

Hi Todd, this video came up at just the right time for me, I've built this ritual into my preshot routine. Something you said got me thinking though. You called your right hand your dominant hand. I swing a golf club 'right-handed' but I'm actually left handed. Are there any tips you can think of for someone whose stronger hand is actually the bottom hand and not the top one?

Good question, we like to have our students feel like they are pulling the club through the strike zone vs throwing it through...that concept has helped many of our players.
@barkermotorsports71012 жыл бұрын
Great video. Working on this today in my hitting net. I know you said your preferred is overlap the pinky. Why is it better than interlock? I am trying to overlap but interlock seems more natural to me. I also did not know about the trigger finger and like it.
@USGOLFTVshow2 жыл бұрын
Good question, many times when we see golfers interlocking the club works up towards their palms. Not always, but many times. We like the club more in the fingers therefore we prefer the overlap grip.
@barkermotorsports71012 жыл бұрын
@@USGOLFTVshow thanks. I have been hitting balls today and following your video and using the overlap. It is feeling better. Will be trying it on the course Monday morning along with the trigger finger.

Hi Todd. Thanks for the great vid. Could you help? I have a strong left hand grip (right handed golfer). How should my right hand be positioned? I’m not 100% sure. Any help would very much be appreciated. Keep up the great work. Peter
@USGOLFTVshow2 жыл бұрын
Peter, the hands need to match. Therefor, if you have a strong lead hand, the trail hand will need to also be rotated slightly to the right pocket. The two need to work together...that is the key.

Thank you for all the great golf lessons. When you hold the club like you have in the lesson, should your thumb be on the top of the grip or slightly to the side?
@USGOLFTVshow2 жыл бұрын

What advice do you have for golfers with arthritis in the fingers? I have mid-sized grips and use a Bionic glove. My pinky and index fingers are affected the most. thanks

Thanks for this explanation! I have one question: I keep golf club by baseball grip - its feels more comfortable for me, but -how can I check, if should I change it for overlapping grip etc. ? I want to choose optimal grip, as soon as possible, to not change it after 5 or 10 years, and waste next month of learn few to be comfortable again. Thank You in advance for an answer.
@USGOLFTVshow2 жыл бұрын
Go with the overlap grip unless you have small hands. Also would suggest getting my latest book. It will provide a step by step roadmap for you www.badliegolfbook.com/

Great video Todd very helpful tips. When I started playing everyone said to interlock my pinky. Well that’s not comfortable for me so I don’t. But I have a question. Can a person squeeze the grip too hard? I hold mine kind of loosely but tight enough not to send it with the ball.
@USGOLFTVshow2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can grip the club too tight. Also be aware of the tension in your forearms, this is a key.
