Another very experienced golfer from Cape Cod. The last couple of years, I battled a significant loss of distance, early extension, hitting way behind the ball, and flipping my irons. I worked all winter (indoors) on two things, keeping my head still and a proper weight transfer. I've been able to get in some winter golf with this year's unusually warm winter and voila, I'm making MUCH better contact, stopped pulling every shot, my distance is back, and my early extension and flipping are gone. The key is keeping my head still and this video just reinforces everything that I've been working on. Shot a 76 two days ago (forward tees - I'm 82 y/o) and can't wait until my golf buddies get back from FL.

Hi Todd. An "experienced" golfer here coming to you from Northeast Ohio. A golfing buddy of mine just came back from a month in Florida and took several lessons with a PGA teaching pro down there who totally changed his swing. My friend used to have a very upright swing with his arm plane way above his shoulder plane and he would hit a 15 -20 yard fade maybe 190 - 200 yard carry with his driver very consistently and he is a fairway finder. He now swings much flatter with his arm plane just a little bit above his shoulder plane and he sets up with about 60% of his weight on the front foot and he keeps it there throughout the swing. No shift to the back foot on the backswing. The result from our trip to the simulator the other day was 5 yard fades and about a 4-5 mph increase in driver clubhead speed with lower back spin. He says that keeping the weight forward makes it easier for him to push off the ground with his front foot on the downswing, clearing his left hip more powerfully thus increasing clubhead speed, lower backspin and straighter shots. Your thoughts?

Steve, interesting. It sounds like your friend was taught the Stack and Tilt system. That system does have many good concepts IMO. My guess is your friend is in good shape and has the ability to move well. He also must have improved his face control resulting in more distance and accuracy. Would not tell golfers to stay away from that system, would simply say they need to be able to move and have solid strength to properly execute. Hope that helps...

I'm from Bismarck, ND, but I am in Gulfport, MS along the coast playing several golf courses in the area. Thanks for the drill. I will use it as I retrain myself in the upright swing. I am doing that because I hurt my back playing square to square golf for many years. I am enjoying playing this way because it seems to require far less effort to achieve good results. I am a single digit handicap. Thanks😊

Great channel Todd. Bit confused as regards amount of shaft lean at address. Some coaches seem to advise get into impact position at address! Should I have a small amount of lean or a much larger forward lean. By the way I am one of you experienced golfers at 76 yrs. Liverpool Uk.

A new (started August 22) 64 year old golfer from Indian Harbour Beach Florida and Sugar Mountain North Carolina (summers). I had big time problems with Fat and Thin shots. My on course teaching pro had me put a tee (or straw) in my mouth and concentrate on keep it pointing at ball through out swing. As you say vision/eyes. It helped get rid of 90% of terrible grounder and line drive shots. He also said to imagine my head fixed on a wall. I can't wait to try your left-right drill to see if I can get rid of the remaining 10%. Thanks for the tip. Your comments?

So... I just started playing golf a month ago and I'm facing both issues : head going down on the downsing then body going up at impact. I guess it's common when you're a complete beginner but then I have no idea which drill I should focus on first. Eye focus or hip plan ?

Always start with the backswing, the downswing is typically a result of the backswing. Would also watch this kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJC0c5d4hMubj9ksi=-VjsGHSUKtm-oOC3
