Useful! Hopefully I can get enough indoor climbing in to get to this stage next.

Awesome demonstration. The only thing I do different is, I have two Loops going down to my feet so I don't have to use just one leg. I do this when there is no wall and I am free hanging. I also do a lot of leg workouts in my free time so I can take a very large step with both feet akin to a ass to ground squat

Seriously! Man you are the best! Top job. I've subbed. Liked. Keep up the good work! Can you do a video on figure 8 descender in use in your climbing system? Not many vids on the figure 8 in climbing? Cheers from Australia just subbed.nice work!🙂👍👍👍

Not a climber, but well done. Looked for mechanical rope devices, for curiosities sake. You mentioned a bunch of items i had never heard of.

Can you do this without a grigri? An atc, a petzl ascender, gates and sling

Yes

Only if you have a guide ATC. it will not really work with a standard ATC.

I work on Cell Towers. I use the grigri to an ascender with a rescue pulley attached to the ascender. I also stand in a sling to work smarter. Great set up for rescue as well.

I find myself liking more a simple system with 2 prussik or one tblock and a prussik without the pulley advantage as I find with proper balance on the foot loop I can get like 3.5/4 feet of ascending every time, too much to be recovered through the pulley (as you see it doubled (8 feet)since it gives you mechanical advantage)
@raphaelbeinhauer92425 жыл бұрын
You can use this system here without the pulley too. My ascent system at work is a Lory descender (like a grigri) and a handled ascender with a footloop. I can ascend al lot faster without a pulley than with one. Faster to set up, too.
@bellini98-15 жыл бұрын
@@raphaelbeinhauer9242 that's the concept yeah! I was talking about prussik because when out climbing long route I rarely have an assisted breaking device with me, but that's it.

Reading a book by dean koontz called face if fear where he's a climber that climbs down a building with his girlfriend to escape a killer. I. Trying to learnmore about what they are using ita hard to picture it by just reading I'm nit too familiar with climbing equipment. When climbing down a 42 story building would u bring enough rope the woman went first them him down to a ledge 30 feet down then they continue. Ia rope left over after they climb. Hiw do they get the rope that is tied above them when they are both below it ? Or does that stay and they just keep adding more rope ? I'm trying to understand better.

It strikes me that the way you are running the Gri Gri in this video is not very safe. According to kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZaQn6uin8yhrZY The three worst things you can do while using a Gri Gri are; 1 not holding the free end, 2 holding the feeding free end of the rope above the Gri Gri instead of below it, and 3 take a fall with no slack in the climbing end, which aids the Gri Gri in locking. You are doing things 2 and 3 two with your setup and item 1 would be really tempting to do on accident. Others asked if you could use an ATC i stead of a Gri Gri with tbis technique. You could not because an ATC requires the free end of the rope to be pulled away from the climbing end to break.

Standard technique used by a lot of people, however Petzl state that the GriGri can only be used with dynamic ropes, not semi-static/low stretch.

3:1!
@zachschmidt74174 жыл бұрын
That is a 2:1 with a redirect, since the load is attached to a pulley.
@Hidden_Destinations2 жыл бұрын
Actually it is a 3:1 - the rope exiting the pulley is not a redirect, it is connected to the load. If the rope was connected to a person on the ground, it would be 2:1.
@MrOteron Жыл бұрын
@@Hidden_Destinations If you learn how to count the tensions in mechanical advantage systems, you'll see that it's a 2:1 with a redirect. When the pulley is on the load (him), you can't get a 3:1.

A professional instructor should give nothing but absolutely safe instructions in an instructional video. Here he again doesnt not do this, I am starting to think that he really is not fit for teaching in a sport where a mistake could lead to fatal results. Although unlikely, the ropeman failing would lead to failing of the whole system as it would jam the grigris ability to block the rope. Mean the there is no redundancy if the upper device fails. There are easy ways to make it redundant and safe and those should be tought. Pls epicTV, correct this and get a good up to date instructor for instructional videos.

Would it be safe if the ropeman were replaced by a prussic? And why should it fail? Thks

The system is called a RAD this is the technique some tree surgeons use instead of the zigzag But they don’t use a very rude man they usually use a hand to send these are Gregory attached up to the Honda Centre in the same way
