Your shoulder and upper back posture is looking way better! Glad to see you were able to incorporate the cable press too, but remember to finish the movement with thoracic rotation for increased core activation. You can apply the same movement to rows; just integrate the scapula with the ribcage, and once the rhomboids and lats are locked in finish with t-spine rotation. Great work, and awesome delivery of informational content!

I would LOVE ! some Functional Bodybuilding videos i joined crossfit several months ago. I have been overweight most of my life so wanted a change and your videos inspired me to do so. I started at 315 but have lost almost 50 pounds, I still have a long way to go but would love functional videos since i have a very hard time with pull ups,rope, chest to bar or any exercise that i have to hold or raise my own weight.

Hit the nail on the head bro. Coming from typical gym bro to crossfit and I struggle with movements that use multiple joints (most olympic lifts, kipping). However things I did as part of bodybuliding are a big strength for me. I also find most bodybuilders are really tight. I really struggle with squats depth and the begining portion of the clean/snatch.

It's all about "functional bodybuilding". My workouts go like this: 20mins rehab/mobility/warmup, 45 mins 8-12 reps "bodybuilding style" (Mon: Squats, pullups and abs, Tues: Press, dips and curls, Wed: Deads and pullups, Thur: Chest, Fri: Curls, pullups and farmer carries. Saturday is my rest day. sunday is for flag football (3 hours).). I follow that with a WOD or tabata AAB, depending on my mood/whether the WOD is doable after doing so many reps! I think what people don't realise though is how hard it is to get big unless you eat big. If you're afraid of putting fat on (15% club, boo hiss), then you can't eat enough to get big, or little enough to get super lean. Definitely interested in more vids like this - one of your best yet.

I'm not a big fan of the term "functional bodybuilding", or the term "functional fitness" altogether. The term "functional" in relation to fitness has not been defined well at all. Does it just mean compound movements? Or does it mean movements that you're likely to use frequently during day-to-day life? Or does it mean movements that you're likely to encounter in sport? In my opinion, any plane of motion that the typical human should be able to move in, and any movement that humans should be able to complete is functional, be that a squat, a curl, a lateral raise, a deadlift, or a shrug. I feel like functional bodybuilding has become a sort of trendy term to use, without much thought given to what it means. I guess it was Marcus Filly who really popularised the concept, but I feel that even he's confused about what it means. I have nothing against the practice, my only issue is categorising it as a new way of training in the first place
@ridered72627 жыл бұрын
Oliver Barrett well I do the same thing strength training and crossfit but the functional part as to how I see it is how you can incorporate movements in daily function like today at work I was cutting up part of a tree and then had to put pieces over aa fence which that movement of putting log on chest then over the fence was same as say doing shoulder press or doing movements of a clean and jerk. Hopefully that kinda helps

Can you talk about how you structure a crossfit program? E.g a weekly or monthly plan? Currently i'm trying to build muscle / strength but also build a cardiovascular engine. i like the way you explain things ! i don't know what you do in your day to day life, but i reckon you would be really good Coach ;). i would like to know when do you do those Strenght exercices ? before the WOD, after the WOD or you dedicate one day of your training to strenght ? and is it at the begining of the week or at the end ? Thanks mate #SouthofFrance
