Lol! Vanessa, I hope you find it as much fun as I do! I was just thinking today, however, that I should show the glass I have that DOESN'T work. The bottom must be flat to achieve great results, I hope the pieces you chose will work for you!

Toilet paper rolls work wonderfully to make circles or to slide them gently through the paint to make incredible patterns! Or use them to stamp...also dollar stores have so many weird and wonderful patterns on some of the bases of many things.

A tip....your brayer is meant to be rested on the back metal bar, so there are no paint or paper marks left on it for the next roll. Beautiful prints. I love how you don't blend it too much...it makes the colours so clean and contrasting and interesting! ❤

Real time videos are my favorite, 100%. I also appreciate videos without music, which is often irritating (ex: drum beats) I have to mute those. :) But, Vikki, your content is always perfect and so inspirational. Being an impatient sort, I watch almost all my craft and Photoshop videos at 1.5X. (I think there's one presenter who speaks so quickly that I need to slow it down from that, but most of the time it works well.) I have no issues with longer videos because they include more realtime demonstration-even at 1.5X I will skip ahead (the advantage of watching on a laptop instead of the phone). Some presenters provide a lot of tips in the narrative that I wouldn't hear elsewhere (e.g., Tim Holtz, who I never watch live because 2.5 hours is just too long in real time), so even when what I'm seeing is familiar, I stick around for those. Occasionally I do go back and sometimes I do slow things down. Others may watch differently, but I spend half of each day online (perhaps 1-2 hours on KZbin), and this is the most efficient way for me to get the content I value.

Thank you for asking! It is the second most asked question, after "what kind of paper are you using?" For the most part I use them in mixed media collages, and yes, they can be framed individually, made into greeting cards, used as journal pages, and yes, I do have piles of pretty paper here, which eventually find their way into projects. Here are some videos on all the uses I describe! "Plot Twist - “How to Create Mixed Media Art Using Gelli Prints” kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6mnaJaofNCjjtksi=Q18pF-_MKe97kbeg “Making Your Own Greeting Cards With Gelli Prints” kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXawaHmqqql6sNE “Gelli Print Dragonfly Collage” - kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmmUin-Pm52SadE “Adding Gelli Plate Dragonfly Art to Wood Panel” kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4iwkIqKoZupi80si=z-XN85ALgBQQP0pO Most recently I used gelli prints I made (of "Cityscapes) in a custom drum head I created for a client called "Together We Rise"... That said, there is truly benefit in creating happily just for the sake of creating...check out the new book, "Your Brain on Art"!

Hi Vikki. Thanks for another great video. I do like the real time format, but enjoy them all. It is a much slower process for me, as I live in a humid climate and have to wait for the layers to dry. Botanical are always a favorite for me. 😊

Thank you Cathy! Yes, if it is humid, you do have to wait in between layers. I appreciate the feedback!

Beautiful! I tried copying some botanical batik fabric on my channel and I still need to get some golden paint to perfect it. I was just using what I had on hand. I couldn’t get the translucency I needed and I used way too much paint. Yours are so beautiful and fun - I always love the lipstick holder but am loving the print from the little cup! This is such a fun process - I think the first one is my favorite also!

These are great! Thanks! I guess if I'd use some plants and leaves that are dry (I had saved some), they'd stick to the jelly plate and be hard to pick up, and little pieces and bits would stick.?

Maureen, that is correct, the dried leaves and flowers will crush on the gelli plate, it is best to use pliable fresh leaves as soon as you collect them, thanks for your question!

Thank you Vikki. Just found you and really enjoyed and found this video just great. Lots of inspiration and I am ready to brave the gel plate in my box and give it a go. I am happy with the real time video as find them easy to fast forward if I like. Though sometimes the things I find interesting the commentator might not. So in that case I prefer the normal speed video. I am certainly going to subscribe and catch up with the rest of your great videos. Thank you. :)

I so prefer real time, otherwise I slow it down and have to turn the volume off. I love your style, and these prints came out beautifully. Do you prefer the liquid paint to the tube paint, is it easier to use on the gel plate? Thank you showing your process.
@VikkiReed
@VikkiReed Жыл бұрын
Thank you Margaret! The majority of the comments favor real time, so there will be more videos in that style! I MUCH prefer the fluid acrylics (Golden...I've tried the Liquitex fluids and they are not the same), UNLESS you are doing photo transfers and "color lifts", in which case the Amsterdam full body pigments are the key! Thanks for your question!

Loved this video, definitely keep in real-time. I’ve only just discovered this, but wondering if anyone has had success printing on clay?
@VikkiReed
@VikkiReed 2 ай бұрын
Hi Judith, thank you for your question, I'm not sure if you're asking about using the gelli plate to transfer paint to clay, or using imprinted clay to make impressions on the gelli plate. The second option is possible, the first option is confusing to me, as I am not a clay artist, but I would assume you need glazes for clay instead of acrylic paint. I know there is an answer for you somewhere on KZbin, though!

I love these - and as I am totally new to this my question: how do you go on with the finished prints? Can ricepaper be framed? Do you glue it to something else?
@VikkiReed
@VikkiReed Жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for your question! Framing the rice paper or adhering it to panel is a bit of a challenge, I primarily use the rice paper for collage work in mixed media pieces. If you want to frame or adhere to panel, I suggest using copy paper, my favorite is HP32Premium, which is ideal for greeting cards, or mounting to panel, you can see that in this video..."Adding Gelli Plate Dragonfly Art to Wood Panel" kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4iwkIqKoZupi80si=KS4RaV6iNlyosaWQ

Can you use these in an art quilt? Would you have to seal the rice paper somehow? Thanks!
@VikkiReed
@VikkiReed 4 ай бұрын
Hi Kathleen, thank you for your questions! I had to Google art quilts as I was not familiar with the term! I don't know how you would sew paper into a quilt, and the rice paper is not a sturdy paper, but I use it in collage all the time, in fact that's why I like it, because it is thin and virtually melts into the mixed media work!...I use matte medium to adhere the prints to canvas or board, matte medium over it as well, and then a coat of Winsor & Newton General Purpose Matte Spray Varnish. The next question I usually get is "can you gelli print on fabric" and the answer is yes, but I have not done it successfully, I would suggest you search that term, I know you will find what you're looking for!

Great questions Vivian! Yes, you can either assemble a collage with your rice paper gelli prints (see Gelli Print Dragonfly Collage Art - kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmmUin-Pm52SadEsi=cw-K0Gnz6M9C-8ok OR, you can print on heavier stock (HP Premium 32 Copy Paper works best for me) and mount it to panel - see it in Adding Gelli Plate Dragonfly Art to Panel)...kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4iwkIqKoZupi80si=VJEKeWw6pjxE5Y3D hopefully those will cover your questions!

Allie, that is a smashing idea! I show a "gelli print ball" made at the end of the "Layered Gelli Prints with Stencils" video kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKfVoKividOglas and there are many other options. For the most part, I use the gelli prints torn up in mixed media collage pieces. I also use them to make greeting cards, and as mentioned, they can be art pieces on their own, mounted to panel. Your idea of making paper beads sounds wonderful!

Thanks for your question! It's pretty impossible to clean the leaves, but if the paint is dry, it is not likely that paint will move from the leaves to your next print, at least I haven't had any issues with that...I hope that helps!
