@@fix206 so if I wanted to make a puller "spotter tool" like the one you have (the one in the red box with the three microwave transformers)???.... ive seen the videonon it a hundred times but the question I have is where would you go to get the puller gun part since it appears from your links on your video things arent in stock and who knows how long it will be before they are in stock. Im talking about your little orange puller gun to prep the metal and give it its shape. Ive got myself a little suburban thats got roof damage around and in backnof the sunroof and am seriously considering doing it myself after watching tons of your videos.

As soon as I saw the extent of the damage on this car, I thought other repairers would replace the fender, two doors and quarter panel. But, knowing you, you'll repair the lot instead of replacing them. Your demonstration of how to use what you have on hand to do bodywork is great. Pulling those dents out using your truck and a come-along was a great idea. It's like Performance Rebuilds using their building to do this sort of thing, as they don't have room for a frame table. It just shows what can be done at home without having a professional workshop. You are doing well doing this type of thing in your front yard, you'd never get away with that over here in Australia, as the Local Government would shut you down quick smart. I guess you have good neighbours who don't mind you doing this sort of thing in your front yard.
@fix2064 жыл бұрын
Some may look down on my work and say that I use crude tools or techniques to go about completing my repairs, to them I would say that there is no such thing, there's nothing wrong with using just about anything at your disposal to achieve the final result. Some of the nicer, more expensive tools just make the job easier to do, but ultimately the outcome is determined by the skill of a technician. Alot of the newer neighborhoods around here that have Home Owners Association would never allow me to do this sort of work in my driveway, thankfully I don't live in one of those neighborhoods. I'm in good standing with all of my neighbors, so they generally don't mind if I make some noise evey now and then when I beat on some panels or run a loud compressor :-)

Most Russians Ive seen on other channels use this type of equipment in IMHO it yields better results by far than a stud gun. Better control over the pulls and more detailed surface recovery. Ya might want to change the duration on the timer so the spotter is not engaged as long, this will prevent the tabs from welding too deep on the metal surface and give way easier when individually pulled off without sacrificing its group pulling strength. Keep up the great work!!!!
@fix2064 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike, you are right about the stud guns, this spotter is is light years ahead of them, I sold mine awhile back and haven't missed it... I'll play with the pulse duration a bit, I just really wanted the grip to be pretty strong while I was raising the edge of the quarter panel along the door, just didn't want the tabs to be popping off.

Just a helpful tip, if you source a battery powered straight florescent tube light you can show the deflection in the reflection of the paint to much more easily show people how big or bad a dent is and also to see dents easier yourself. It creates a perfectly straight refection.

well before i was sceptical but now i have seen a new side of this (no pun intended) with the individual little pins in a row followed by a hand held puller and it most likely will take longer than say fifteen minutes... fine with me as your saving money and not racing McFarlane so its not a race track. Can a person buy this spotter?? if so, where? about how much. I realize this is metal a magnet will stick to. you did a fair job. your still not working on my highend six figure cars and it I had them I wouldn't be watching this
@fix2064 жыл бұрын
It took about 15 minutes to rase the big/long dent in the quarter panel with the puller... Using the pins on the lower quarter took about an hour or so. I mainly wanted to show the capabilities of this tool, that in less then 1.5 hours of work this quarter panel could be saved. Because replacing this quarter would have taken a hell of a lot longer, but I'm sure that if it was a higher end big $ car, then I would have replaced the panel to keep the body filler to the minimum. I built the spotter tool myself, it's not very complicated here is a link to a video of how I built it kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGe4mKd5g5qpsLc

Ebay ones are underpowered and not very reliable, that's just what I've found when researching them online... I can always turn mine down, but I find the setting where it's at right now to work best.
