Thanks & much appreciated 👍 Yep it does what you'd expect. I've been using the 16g like in this video since I had problems with the 18g misfiring, I've got some clips from 2022 still to edit & upload where I show the problem, I swapped to the 16g & it's spot on 👍👍

That thing in the exhaust port of the biscuit jointer is probably mandatory, so people can't stick their finger in there. I've seen it on more tools. We have a big belt sander that clogs up when a piece of fiber comes off the belt. Quite a nuisance. You'd also need very long, thin fingers that can bend two different ways at once to reach anything that spins in there.
@Gidjoiner
@Gidjoiner 4 ай бұрын
That's what I presume but anyone daft enough to put their fingers in there deserves a bandaged finger, & there's a lot worse tools with exposed blades.. My shop extractor had a 2x2" square grid on the chip inlet which got clogged quickly, a sharp knife fixed that problem 👍

Thankyou, much appreciated 👍Yr's ago when watching other's vids I realised how little info there was being shared (after skipping through the pointless intro & irrelevant waffle at the start of their vids) & how in the very little they actually showed in the 10min video suddenly they'd built this thing 🤔🤷‍♂️., So when I came to making my own videos I decided to keep them simple & to the point with as many of the steps in the creation as i could, that's how I like & am going to keep them 😊

@Gidjoiner
@Gidjoiner 4 ай бұрын
Thankyou, much appreciated 👍 I bought the cordless routers in 2022 before I got poorly, the 2m level was bought in 2022 also I think. The hinge jig tho I've had quite a long time, not sure how long, a few yrs, maybe 5 or 7 🤷‍♂️ it was a replacement for an older version that got bent by accident. The other tools I've been acquiring over yrs.. I do like my toys but don't think I've bought anything since 2022 when everything came to a stop. Yep those markers are good, this black nozzled one is for deep holes,, the green nozzled one is a bit better but mine is empty, my kit has needed 'recovering' after being left such a long time so I'll get a new one .

Nice to see you back... I do enjoy your videos. If you don't mind me asking where did you get your scribing compass from. I've got normal compasses but without the locking wheel. I've looked everywhere for a pair like yours but can't find them anywhere.
@Gidjoiner
@Gidjoiner 4 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot, much appreciated 👍 It's a compass that I swapped the needle point for a flat point that I think I made from a jigsaw blade, & then used a nail as a tiny rivet. + super glue, I like this one because you can put a normal pencil in it. The compasses are still available on Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/Staedtler-551-01-Precision-Universal/dp/B000WGVMNG?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Always enjoy your videos. Im in the market for a biscuit jointer at the moment. I'm on the makita batteries but im only after a corded. Do you know how the corded makita compares to the dewalt? The issue you highlighted is a big one in my opinion

@Gidjoiner
@Gidjoiner 4 ай бұрын
👍 I've got one of the hinges on my desk, the gap between the leaves is just over 1mm, I should've looked more closely when I dug them out of a box I had & prob why they didn't get used in the first place 🤦‍♂️😂 So yeah I was going to buy some others, I've got some bearing ones but was sort of trying to keep it looking traditional & it's done now, it's for a friend so any problem I'll sort it out 👍

I have the Makita 110v biscuit joiner and it has the same chip extraction issue. Some clown decided it would be a good idea to block a quarter of the extraction port with a lump of metal! I've been meaning to fix it for a while. I've been on the look out for a cordless biscuit joiner. The Makita looks a bit dated as it isn't brushless and the DeWalt would mean getting into yet another battery platform. I'm hoping Makita release a 40v brushless biscuit joiner soon.
@Gidjoiner
@Gidjoiner 4 ай бұрын
Exactly why I didn't get the Dewalt in the first place, Makita are my no1 choice & I didn't have any Dewalt batteries. I still have the Makita biscuit jointer, you can adjust the depth with the fixed 90º fence, if you remove that you can do plunge cuts, removing that also allows use of the flip down fence. But there's no depth adjustment on the flip down one, it's fixed at a set height of 18mm (9mm centre). so you've lost any previous depth setting you have with the fixed 90º fence 😒 The Dewalt flip down can be adjusted in depth, flipped up to plunge cut, then flipped back down & the depth setting is still as it was. I wouldn't recommend the Makita, I had to accept it & get the Dewalt + batteries, it honestly feels better than the clunky Makita too.
@TheToolnut

@@Gidjoiner My cordless tools are mainly Makita, 18v, 36v and some 40v. Some of my 18v batteries are getting a bit tired. I'm slowly replacing my 18v kit with 40v tools. I'm on the DeWalt flexvolt platform (torpedo lightsx2, compressor, and tablesaw) I've two 9ah batteries and two 12ah batteries. The 9and 12ah batteries would be too clunky for the DeWalt biscuit joiner. So that means getting into the XR platform. I like the look of the DeWalt 1/4" battery router. I had the Makita 1/4" battery router but I didn't get on with it. It had a lot of play, plus the adjustments were poor. You'd wonder who designs some of these tools!
@Gidjoiner
@Gidjoiner 4 ай бұрын
Yeah it's difficult, when going all cordless I tried to limit the amount of chargers, I now have 6 or 8 in the van 😡🤷‍♂️ Designed by people in front of computers & tested by their workshop staff with no real world experience 😂
@TheToolnut
@TheToolnut 4 ай бұрын
@@Gidjoiner Indeed Gid, the ideal would be to stick to one battery platform but in reality that's not possible. Some design elements on some tools I have used are mystifying. For example not putting led lights on a "new and improved" Bosch 12v router is beyond me. The plunge lock on that Makita 18v router was terrible. Too small and as a result you'd have to nearly stand on it to lock it off. If I had my time back again and I had the money I would have gone all Festool.
@Gidjoiner
@Gidjoiner 4 ай бұрын
I've put a vid up about the Dewalt vs Makita biscuit jointer, trivial reason for preferring the Dewalt but ........ 🤷‍♂️😂 Yeah you'd think after all these yrs they'd have perfected these tools cordless or corded 🤷‍♂️
