Thank you for keeping the faith for our Palestinian sisters & brothers. I see a lot of YTers doing prosocial fundraising which is great, but many move on quickly to whatever is most newsworthy. Fighting apartheid & instituionalized overt bigotry is a very long fight, and being part of a Resistance movement means sticking by your core beliefs. I was raised pro-Palestinian & Islamofriendly in very very rural white Montana (we’re Anglo German Nordic like most ppl here, the land is former Apsaalooke nation but the only have a little land near billings now)) and it’s been a family value my whole life to support Palestinian freedom. My mom is NOT anti-Semitic, she was equally adamant about respecting all religions, but Islam is her 2nd favorite after Christianity (lol I don’t think you’re supposed to have a #2) and I’m so grateful that I was raised to appreciate Palestinian culture and rights specifically. Also my mom thinks middle eastern ppl are the best looking, so the beauty ideal in my household was just something we weren’t part of. Not the healthiest outlook but considering I’m a rural gen x queer liberal, I’d say momma did more good than harm lol.

I had the best session with a makeup artist that showed me how to use what I have. Things I thought were must haves like concealer under my eyes she didn’t even use. I was just going to try a new concealer but didn’t have to since she showed me how to use my foundation. Things I never use and was going to declutter she found uses for me. It was mind blowing. Totally worth the time and money.

I just made huge progress. I went on the clionadh site on launch of the bf sale specifically to purchase the new badtothebrow brushes & polishes but I got real with myself & asked myself "self, do you need new brushes? & are you only buying them because one of your friends is collabing with one of your fav brands? Also, you just bought the one new polish you want, do you want three mini ones that you don't necessarily like all three?" I closed out the cart & gave myself an Imaginary pat on the back. All of that to say, thank you for inadvertently helping me to curtail my behavior. I do well a lot of the time but there are always triggers, like bf, or one of your friends collabing with a fav brand. 😅

Traditionally “ugly” colors, the muckier the better (with the right undertones for one’s one skin ofc) look absolutely gorgeous to me on the eyes, especially with touches of shim/glitt but not a heavy shine. And if those shades are a mixture of darker or less “classic” metallics (industrial) & mucky tones from nature - typically looks polished, appealing, approachable, but with a hint of complexity & mystery. Esp as we get away from the idea that “exotic” beauty = brown people, I like the idea of delving into the ephemeral enigmas of the colors & finishes around us - pastoral nature & modern construction.
