Take the iPhone an apple store and told the geniuses that the built-in KZbin app does not work.
@Passionateparties4u4 жыл бұрын
The version of KZbin on the original iPhone will not work because it’s still only 2G. It needs to higher to use the app. 😢 Even using the browser hardly works.

I had that phone in 2007 on AT&T and though 2g was slow by today's standards you have to remember websites in 2018 are Javascript powerhouses designed for much faster wifi and LTE. The amount of data you have to pull down to load a page is 10-20 times greater.
@seanc.53106 жыл бұрын
@ParrotGeek Software True. Everyone wants reactive websites with high res images and video backgrounds which uses tons of data. Back in 2007 remember the iPhone notoriously omitted flash which ran nearly all of the live content so pages were shells of what they are now. Then we got HTML5, JS & CSS as a standard. I see single pages take up gigs of RAM even in one chrome tab sometimes. Bloated.
@spiddyman00796 жыл бұрын
Sean C. Yeah. No flash sucks. Good thing we have the puffin web browser
@talvisota3276 жыл бұрын
ParrotGeek Software i noticed the same on older computers... you need a fast dual core cpu to browse the modern web without massive lags and freezes. using the internet with an old single core cpu is basically impossible... while back in the day you could even watch youtube videos on an 1 ghz cpu

In 20 years, people will wonder how we survived with a phone with only less than a terabyte or even more. They’ll wonder what it was like to be without VR for ordinary activities. In fact, we can’t even predict some of the things...things that we haven’t even thought of yet...or, like how the 60s and 70s predicted with phone screens, exactly how what we dream of will manifest. We see it in some 2019-ish way...when the actuality will be, “Why didn’t we think of that then?”.

2008-2011 was such a nice time. Mgmt, phantogram, up and coming early tech, days where it was mostly about going out with friends at night for a good time. I think there was a certain spotanaety to it. Facebook being simple and cool. Omegle. The trade off though is today you could get in contact with anyone across this entire globe so swiftly. We are more interconnected than ever. I wish we could have the best of both.
@alexiep24225 жыл бұрын
JustSomebody those where some of the best years of my life. And it was because everyone knew how to interact with each other. No one was awkward, silent and had their noses dug into their phones. We would all use them for what they was for. Phones calls and text messaging. You wanted to talk to someone ? Cool. Call them up, they would answer. Now you’d be lucky for a reply within the hour on a text and people are just awkward to talk to. No eye contact. Shy and quiet in person but outgoing, funny and expressive on Facebook and Snapchat. I really wonder how people would react if all of social media collapsed. lol it would be funny to see.

People don't go out at night for a good time anymore? People weren't able to connect instantly globally in 2011? Literally barely anything has changed since then.

Nice video! Wow, that was a blast from the past! I just want to mention, though, as I am old enough to remember, that I had a chuckle when you were saying that you couldn’t bear to ‘wait that long’ when you were going to webpages, etc., as though we back then had to have so much patience to interact with this tech when it was new. Granted, tech has improved exponentially since then, but webpages and such were built much differently, much lighter, than you can get away with now (e.g., nowadays, more robust networks have raised viewer expectations on what a website is/should be/offer). So, where I’m getting at, is that the experience of using the functionality you were testing was much different then. No, you didn’t have to have the patience of a caveman building a fire to experience its greatness. (Just talk to an old corporate tech veteran to understand how much we did have, that worked very well, for the time!) Needless to say, that’s definitely the part to keep in mind when trying to understand what it was like to use these phones! Peace-I love your videos... Keep up the good work! :)

My dad still has the iPhone 3GS, his first ever smartphone. The home button is busted, and the original 30-pin charging cord on its last legs, but it still works... kinda. It’s lost somewhere in the house, so I can’t revisit it at the moment, but I’d love it if you could make a video on the iPhone 3GS! Thanks!

There’s a tweak to make the built in KZbin app work on iOS 5 and below called TubeFixer on a third party repo

And Symbian, Windows Mobile and Palm had a lot more features than the first iPhone. For example third party applications which the iPhone didn't have until July 10, 2008. And of course 3G, multitasking, copy paste, MMS etc.

In 2007 just having iPod connectivity in a car was rare enough, let alone Bluetooth streaming! It might be slow, but it’s still very cool, I would love to still get my hands on one!

When the first iPhone was launched in 2007, I was only 23 years old. I'm 36 now. Still has more functional than my first smartphone that I used when was a Kyocera KWC 2135 phone that I got in 2002.

I'm maintaining my own portable device museum going back to the early iPaq devices (I used to work for Compaq/HP and I have them all). I dug out my iPhone 2G (bought in Mong Kok in Hong Kong a few days after the US release - it came with an SAT&T sim) and got it working again. I had a problem getting the WiFi to connect to my router. I followed the instructions to reseat the white WiFi signal cable - still no go. The solution was to create a new 2.4GHz SSID with security set to WPA2-TKIP. Connected right away. So the iPhone 2G is not compatible with WPA2-AES security.

Yes it did took long time to download some of the apps, I remember me eagerly watching that process bar goes further and further.... sometime had downloading issues like app replications and gray software, but I managed to figure out ways to fix them. But hey! The apps gave me some brilliant memories.....

Watching on the iPhone SE. It’s equivalent to the iPhone 6, but smaller. Today, the latest apple iPhone is the iPhone XR. Although my current iPhone is perfectly functional, I still want the iPhone XR for Christmas only because it’s apple’s latest iPhone.

No multi task so if you were using internet on an app and switched to a diff app it would go offline on the other one. I was the 1st one in my area to get this baby.

My first "candy bar" smart phone (that's what they called it back in the day) was the iPhone 3g. I marveled when Steve Jobs came out with the iPhone. At the time I had a sony ericcson. But this was only 10 years ago. I can't believe most people don't remember or can't fathom using a first generation smart phone.
