Yes, I use Tretinoin. I started with retinol, but as I got older, I stepped up to Retin-A (0.5%) to improve my results. My best tip: use your Tretinoin AFTER you put on moisturiser (but not if you moisturise with face oils which will prevent it from absorbing at all). Using the Tretinoin after the moisturiser slows down the absorption which reduces irritation and, essentially, turns the Tretinoin into a slow-release product. It still works great, but it's much gentler. I also skip using it a couple of days per week to give my skin a break and use healing oils, instead.

@@providencephelps1497 Yeah. I had to "sneak up on it." I've been using Adapalene 0.1%, so have to wait for the conversion to retinoic acid, rather than it being immediate as with Retin A. As it stores in the liver, doctors wouldn't prescribe it after my teenage years. However, with Adapalene and according to the instructions, not much is stored in the liver. I can use it more frequently and have seen scars fade, combined with the results of my own Plasma Pen treatments by speeding up the results and reducing pigment on the legs. Some scars have faded, others have filled in and some have gone without a trace!

@@Sunny-oc6ed In the first half an hour, it converts to Retinaldehyde. It then gets stronger with the next conversion of retinoic acid: the same product as Tretinoin and Retin-A! It's a time release conversion and is a third generation retinoid, reaching full strength after 4 hours. It has less irritation than Tretinoin as it's not the full strength all at once. It's less fragile than Retin-A in the daylight as it doesn't break down as much. New research says it's just as effective as Tretinoin for scars and wrinkles. It could take a bit longer for the same results, but only by a few weeks and less irritation means you can use it more often after you get your skin used to it. I recommend moisturising after a few minutes as it will decrease the itching and dryness. Sunscreen is essential, regardless of the weather or you'll be at risk of sun spots. It thins the epidermis, but thickens the dermis.

Saw a top naturopath who suggested I remove it from my list of products as it is a known endocrine disrupter, among causing other health risks. I had repeated ovarian cysts, and decided to switch to all clean products. Hate to be a Debbie Downer as there has been such a push for Tretinoin, but there are known health risks with it, not usually detectable at first, but build toxicity in the body. A good friend used it for years as well, ended up with severe bone pain and problems, that on testing were linked to Tretinoin, she later learned there were other women with same issues post years of use. There are natural and healthier Retinol alternatives. Just helping increase some awareness about this product. 😔

I do overdo sometimes, especially when last year , I also added AHA’s . I alternate nights . And that even more improved my skin. Over time I noticed the biggest improvement was far less sensitivity peeling, barrier completely repaired and no more eczema. So I was able to start using the tret every other night, and as long as i put a sleeping mask on top after, no peeling. So hopefully I’ll see even greater improvement. I need to drink way more water, that’s my next habit I’m going to try to take on.

@@N3dita and I don’t use an eye cream anymore. For some reason….most of them give me milia around eyes, the only lotion that has never given me milia or make my eyes look worse is the regular old yellow clinique lotion+, I put that all over including eyelids and lips prior to tret.

I have used tretinoin for years. If there is a mistake you can make w ith it, I have made it. But I keep using it because it does keep the discolorations at bay. I have seen some improvement in pore size, but none in wrinkle depth. It doesn't work the same on everyone.

I've used .025 for approx. a year and a half and have had only very minor irritation every once in a while. I began using every other day for over a year. Now I can use it every night. If I see peeling once in a long while, I simply don't use it for 1 or 2 nights, then start back up again. Mind you, I sometimes wonder if it's actually doing anything. But maybe I have to be patient (and consistent) for a while longer.
@trinablum71025 ай бұрын
Same here. I’m using 0.05% every night & rarely have any irritation. I don’t notice much difference in my skin from when I started it about 18 mths ago. When you apply your Tret do you do it just before moisturiser or at a different step in your skincare routine?
@lauram.65055 ай бұрын
@@trinablum7102 I use moisturizer first (Aveeno Calm & Restore Oat Gel), then when it's dry, I use a pea-sized amount of the Tretinoan. Whenever I have put it on a little thicker is when I may see a little peeling, so I stick to 'less is more' and hope it is doing "something". Although it has me spooked now to read about side effects in the comments. It makes me wonder if it is worth it. I'm almost finished a tube, so I may research this Bakuchiol Retinol that's mentioned below before repurchasing. 'Banned in Europe', is nothing to ignore.

I wish you had mentioned the blepharoplasty prior to showing the before and after photos. I was really studying your eyes and got all excited 😂 But that’s ok. It also appears you had your lips filled. I was watching Angie one day and when she turned her head, it would show crows feet for just a second then they would blur away quickly so I really wonder if she’s using a filter at times. I appreciate your transparency and sharing! 😘

Hi Cinda. That’s interesting about Angie but I’m really not sure that a camera can actually do that. I’ve heard of people using filters on cameras, but I have no idea how it is done. It wouldn’t seem like it could look normal one minute and then change the next. Thanks for sharing that though as it is interesting.

I use retin-a 0.5 cream. I also have 1% but it’s really strong and I can smell the alcohol in it and it’s a gel. The peeling eventually got better. I use my almost every night. I think it’s helped. I started with adapalene for a couple of months then started low tret 0.050 slowly build up. Promised to stage out for six to nine months before I would give up. I am now up 0.1% tret for two plus years. I can not go up to eye area so trying an eye cream retinal right now. Can not do real tret on my neck so try CereVe resurfacing on neck. I do a AHA mask to dissolve glue to sluff off old skin. No physical or scrubbing. Add Vanicream Vit C off and on. SUNSCREEN, HAT AND SUNGLASSES.

I use .1 %. The pharmacy told me it does not come in a stronger strength. I have no irritation even if I skip a day or two and resume. I have very sensitive skin and get sun poisoning easily. I make sure to wear sunscreen every single day. It peeled a little at first but now there is no peeling, redness, or sensitivity.

Ive been using the 0.5% for 5 years with great results, I started it off gradually & have never experienced irritation, the worse thing that happened was my face was a little pink at times, Ive stuck with it & its been my most important item in my skincare. Ive seen a huge reduction in fine lines, reduced sun damage & pigmentation & my skin texture is like glass, I use high end moisturisers with it as it can be slightly drying but Im an absaloute devotee of it.

I have used tretinoin since it has been talked about years ago. I am 73 years old and in my younger days I was a sun worshiper. It has really made such a difference in my skin. I stuck with it peeling and all but definitely worth it. I know use a lower strength due to my skin being thinner and much more sensitive. My advise to the younger generation is start using tretinoin and you will thank yourself down the road. FYI., I worked in the beauty industry for about 20 years so I have reached all the leading skin care hacks.... tretinoin is the absolute best!! No sun on the face🥰
