My ole man was there. Ghosts from that time come to visit on occasion. I wonder how many people really remember that this happened. One of the few, this group of men was small. Bothers me that they could be forgotten. Spread the word please. This did happen and these men are still here.

Our first duty is to remember!

Yes, if I remember correctly, after the Marine Corps Barracks booming, Regan declared this Marine Corps Barracks booming the Beginning of the War on Terrorism. I'm I correct. So, I also understood that this Peace Keeping Marine Corps Barracks was classified as a Compaign just like the Vietnam occupation. Can someone confirm this to be accurate who served during 1983 to 1984?

The restrictive ROE's kept the Marines from defending themselves. I know that hindsight is 20/20 but any 2nd Lieutenant right out of Basic School could have defended those poor men. Some Colonel should have become a "slick sleeve" and allowed no weapon heavier than a potato peeler for the remainder of his career. A few concrete barriers, some sandbags and one squad of riflemen could have prevented this forseeable nightmare. May God Bless Every Marine and Sailor lost to those fanatics...

Yes the military should never again build such multi floor cement barracks levels for active military personnel to stay and live in. The military should make only one level floor barracks so these terrorists attacks won't occur again. Can someone confirm for me that the presence of the Marine Corps at Beirut Lebanon Peace Keeping Force was some Campaign just like the Vietnam occupation? And does anyone know exactly what month in the year 1983 this campaign started and what was the year and month that the Marines were ordered to leave Beirut Lebanon?

i was five years old in 1983 when the marines base was very near to my home , i still remember the marines in the helicopters especially the big shinock , they were not welcomed from the people but they weren't aggressive , soldiers drove in the streets all the day , after they left i went to the base , and i remember the symbol and flag of the navy drawn on the walls . when i watch this video i remember every thing also the building of the lebanese university behind , i feel sorry to all the innocents that suffered from the death of the soldiers but that was a war and they killed out home on a strange land and off course not to bring peace , they came to support a party of Lebanese people that is friendly with isreal against the others . thanks for the owner and puplisher of this video.

I will never forget that incident in which some Israeli tanks decided to cross with the Marines.. A marine lieutenant stopped them from crossing and the Israeli commander said they were going right through. That Marine jumped right on the lead tank Chambered a Round in his forty five..and told that Israeli.."OVER MY DEAD BODY..." The Israeli's learned a hard lesson that day.
