+USMiner That ground must be really quiet, I'm jealous! To run HY and Normal in my quiet ground areas, I'd have to have the Sensitivity on 4. In hot ground, the only way to stick with Normal is to go to Extra Deep and High Smoothing.
@USMiner8 жыл бұрын
+Nenad @ Phase Technical Absolutely we have a lot of mild ground here (and I generally concentrate on those places too) and we are lucky to have it. This is why I put all my settings up on screen, so people can see how they do or do not apply to their own environments and make conclusions. Not to say we don't have places where even Difficult struggles, just that I have so many milder options open to explore that I tend to avoid them until I run out of other options. I'm much lazier than those of you in some parts of Australia who have few other options except hot ground and I'll be the first to admit that!

Hey Simon, nice to see you around. Yeah this is an oldie, I retired my 4500 and this Evo coil after X Coils came out.

One thing I've worked out with similar coil tests and I've done a lot of these myself is that just because one coil (and detector) gives a better signal when swung back and forth in one spot, does not necessarily mean it is better overall than another combination when worked over your whole gold area. There is many factors that influence this. In this test for example I did not think the 7000 seemed as stable as the 5000 on the settings used. Therefore if you walked around with it, it may not be practical to use because of false signals etc. I believe a slightly less powerful but stable detector will find you more gold than an unstable powerhouse. When it's stable and you have been detecting for ages you are less likely to miss a small sound than having constant interference. I have actually been walking next to people and heard a slight noise that they have zoned out to because of tuning issues and have told them to back up and check it and they found a nugget. Best way is do your depth test in your gold area, then walk around with it in that setting and see if it is quiet. If it's not turn it down and read check your depth test target, you might get a suprise.

There are countless intangibles such as you mention, I agree. Especially when you throw in varying field conditions. But in the end I believe a controlled test such as this comes down to one thing - either the signal is there or it is not. My philosophy with testing is to eliminate as many of these intangibles as possible and keep everything the same. After that, while in the field, everything else is up to the operators skillset and ability to adapt, and that varies greatly person to person.

Good test. I like your conclusion; that you would prospect with an GPX and an Evolution and use the 7000 to clean out a patch or in an area with crystalline or widely designated gold etc. I use my 5000 for everything now but hope to raise enough to get a 7000. Hope all is well.

HELLO 🖐🇹🇷 When traveling off-road, the wm 12 wireless sound module abruptly cuts off the sound from the detector and the sound is completely gone. I turn the detector off and on again to bring back the sound. Do you have this problem? Or is my wm 12 wireless sound module defective?

I just got the GPZ, and I'm targeting with the 14" coil, and seem to be digging just north of the target. Is there a sweet spot bullseye on the coil? Does if very with mineral type?

I. was informed by a Minelab engineer at a gold show that testing a metal detectors sensitivity using gold in a round class container like you are using will result in a false signal because the smooth glass deflects and scatters the signal; can you perform a test using a glass container with gold in it in a hole as you are doing now and performing a test with just laying gold in the same hole to see if there is a difference? I’m sure many followers will be interested in finding out what your test results would be. Thank you

Just an observation - in the test you swinging way to quick to give the detector the time to analyse and respond for you to hear- go low and slow and that older coil will pick it up- I guarantee it-

I wonder if you used a booster on the gpx 5000 like SP01 if it would have made the comparison closer to the 7000
@USMiner4 жыл бұрын
Signal boosters are somewhat misnamed as they don't improve detector sensitivity or enhance the actual target/coil coupling, they only amplify audio. I've never come close to needing more volume than the onboard audio amp on either the 5000 or 7000 provide so I don't personally see a lot of use for signal boosters myself. That said, I have one so that I can ditch the heavy ML battery, and it was running in this test.

Was this test performed with the updated software on the GPZ 7000; was the yellow ferrous GB tool used?
@USMiner9 жыл бұрын
+Mark Kirkland It was performed with the updated firmware. I used the ferrite at the beginning of the test, but honestly it doesn't make a difference in this ground. I made sure all coils/detectors were in balance for each test and each machine was auto tuned for the best noise channel.

+Harold Harold I'd like to test the Coiltek's and a 16" NF round against the Z and 17x13 Evo but it'll have to wait until next season if I do unfortunately... If no one else does it before then, I will!

Good to see at the start the older style Advantage up against the latest Evolution was negligible.Im not convinced these Evolution coils are better against the Advantage coils with there different style of wingdings.The grouped style to me like in the Advantage series punches deeper,but the flat winding style in the Evo s more sensitive.
@terrywolford78808 жыл бұрын
Great video! I'm impressed as to how sensitive the GPZ is and with depth. I think you could near match the tests with the 5000 but it would take a slew of different coils to do so and may not be matched at all on crystalline gold. I was watching the dog. He's kinda looking around as if to say "who the heck is he talking to?" I have the new nuggetfinder Evo 14X9 and wonder if it would do better on that 1.5 grain nugget than the 17X13 and maybe close to the Z on grain size nuggets?
@USMiner8 жыл бұрын
Thanks and If you do any testing on that 14x9 Evo, post back with results! I think it'd definitely do better than the 17x13 so yeah maybe close to the Z.

Have you ever had a chance to do the same testing with the 16" round, I have one and wondering if it is worth upgrading. Thanks
@USMiner7 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I ended up selling the GPZ before I had a chance to test the 16 and I haven't been back in the field since that trip to test against the Evo since I ended up with a full time job away from the goldfields. I suspect the Evo takes an edge on sensitivity and depth though, but that's only based on using each coil independently in the field and not a quantitative test.

Well put together test vid. I run a Z and GPX5000 and have done similar tests with very similar results. The NF17x13 Evo certainly gives deeper penetration on our extremely mineralized Australian gold fields compared to both NF17x11 and surprisingly NF14 round. On the smaller sub gram gold the NF 12" Evo I found had by far the best results and unfortunately (at great expense to me) beat the Z in the conditions we tested. Pity the Z hasn't got a range of coil sizes, as many areas we detect it's impossible to swing a 14" coil without missing more targets than you get. Hope the gold is kind to you this season....Wal.
@USMiner9 жыл бұрын
+Wal nLiz I recently discovered one 26 grammer I have that the 17x13 hits about 20% deeper than the GPZ. It's an oddity though and not normal, weird geometry and weird resulting signal that the Z just trips on. But the depth difference is pretty notable. It's the largest nugget in my 41 Gram Day video, kinda a tangle mass and a very warbly signal.
@WalnLiz9 жыл бұрын
+USMiner ...Shape and whether it's prickly gold certainly can throw some signals off. The new generation coils in my opinion close the gap between the Z and the GPX series quite dramatically, to the point one must ask if the price difference is warranted. I have gone back to the 5000 as my main machine and only use the Z in open space regions of late. Take care and best of luck....Wal.
@WalnLiz9 жыл бұрын
+Дамир ...Not at all...my Z generally picks up clearer signals to the 17 x 13 but the difference is not as great as 40% like Minelab say in their advertising. We detect in Australia and the mineralization can be very extreme. In many boulder strewn creeks my GPX5000 with a NF Sadie will out do the Z on small targets but only because the Sadie can get low between the boulders where the 14" coil struggles to get close because of its size. I run both machines and both are great...but both have advantages and disadvantages. Cheers Wal.

I would say if you were in hot ground, and could only run your 4500 in enhance and the zed in difficult, and ground noise was a problem, the zed will always be far superior.

But tell me what coils you have with the 4500 (both size, and if they are mono or DD)and I'll give you some suggestions on where to start with settings - but keep in mind they are just suggestions and it is best to start there and do lots of testing on your own to figure out how to change settings for each new location.
