Braden - thanks for the intellectual honesty here. We all like Poch as our coach and have high hopes for him, but when he makes poor decisions like Matko and some of these other call-ups, we have to hold him accountable. Well done.

Exactly, the standards have to be the same for everyone. This isn’t really that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things but it’s only fair to question a couple of the decisions. Very excited to see what Poch can do with the likes of Neal, Cremaschi, McGlynn, Luna, Gutierrez, and Clark.

Really great and honest review... some big mistakes and bad callups and missed opportunities. This is the Poch version of GGG calling up Arriola and Letget over and over again at the beginning of his tenure.

Honestly I don’t even care about the results too much, if the young guys play well that’s all we need from this camp. However, the expectation for both matches should absolutely be a win.

Honestly I don’t see a world in which Eneli doesn’t start, without him the midfield has zero defense. I’d also put my money on Ferreira over White but other than that it looks accurate.

Luna and Freese finally getting well-deserved call-ups is the highlight here. Very excited they get a shot and hope they both play and stand out. Also nice to see several new faces among the forwards/wingers/midfielders-that-USSF-is-labeling-as-forwards 😅 Matko is the lowlight… nobody said nepotism in soccer was dead. Terrible decision and seems to not exhibit any of the qualities that Poch himself said he was looking for in Dual Nats. Edelson and Bassett should be here. So many names from yesteryear on here that shouldn’t be here like Shaq Moore, Robinson, etc, but not going to rant about it because it is Camp Cupcake after all. Eager to see what takeaways there will be after this camp is done 🤞🏽

It is so frustrating to keep seeing the Federation calling in guys with absolutely no chance of ever contributing to the first team. Just call in young players to evaluate their development.

Some of the snubs are frustrating but at least there’s a few players that are actually worth getting a look at. The way I see it, this camp does no harm so any positives we can take from it are a nice surprise. That doesn’t mean we can’t criticize the call ups though.

Watching Steffan give up what, 9 goals to the galaxy in 2 games during playoffs makes me wonder why he is there. I realize he had a team in front of him who failed but still. Thats 9 goals in 2 games.

It’s not even just that, he consistently underperformed. When you’re a playoff team but your GK is statistically the worst in the league, there’s a big problem there.

I'm thinking unless I see player development drastically increase to where it's where England's is currently, I'm gonna focus less on the country side of football and WAY more on Real Madrid, my club. Rn I only watch them for UCL, but that might change too. I'm getting incredibly impatient with this. As for my thoughts on this roster... Good: Freese, Schulte, Neal, Ream, Cremaschi, Luna, McGlynn, Gutierrez Bad: Steffen, Callender, Moore, Robinson, Zimmerman, Ferreira, Miljevic, Vassilev, White Interested to See: Arfsten, Campbell, Jones, Tolkin, Eneli, Agyemang, Clark Missed opportunity to bring in U20 players like Duru, Tsakiris, Raines, Wynder, Beavers, RBW, Fletcher, Murray, Kochen, Banks, Campbell, Akinmboni, Soma etc. 0 inclusion of Koleosho, Brown or Chase is seriously disappointing. Also, the exclusion of Cole Bassett , Jackson Ragen and Daniel Edelman are extremely mind boggling. I don't know what to make of either my future as a die hard US fan or this roster.

Agree with your analysis of the players in the camp (besides maybe Ferreira). Koleosho/Brown/Chase were obviously never going to happen, not only are they all still deciding their international futures but they’re in the middle of their club seasons and the clubs wouldn’t release them even if we tried. Likely the same for U20s who play in Europe like Kochen, Banks, Duru, Wynder, Akinmboni, Campbell, etc. As for the rest of the U20s, let’s see what that roster looks like when it drops in a few days. I think it makes sense to keep that group together so they can prepare for the World Cup. Appreciate your thoughtful insight as always!

It’s confusing, I get wanting to have one veteran there but in that case why bring 4 GKs and if you do, why is the 4th old and not very good? Hopefully next year he gets a chance.

It's also frustrating to know that, despite my better judgement, I will still suffer through the broadcasts of both of these two terrible games. Maybe someone needs to organize a boycott of games with useless players on the roster.

I doubt there will be many US fans at either of the games. Considering they’re both in Florida, I wouldn’t even be surprised if the opposition has more supporters for at least one of them.
