Hi Lawrence. You posted this video exactly a month before I retired from being a carrier after 34 years. I never had to work a Sunday in my entire career, being that back in 1988, the only Sunday delivery was Express Mail. That's 365 days a year. Sunday parcels only happened between Thankgiving and Christmas back then. Long before the internet and the explosion of parcels. I made regular early in November, before Thanksgiving, so could never be "forced" to work Sunday. Never did, although in the last 5 or so years of my career I could've made a bundle in OT. I feel for you CCAs today. You have no say in the matter. Keep on keepin' on. When you make regular, you'll have much more control over your work hours. Peace, dawgs!

Right - was a City Carrier from '88 to 2000 & Never had to even entertain the thought of working on Sunday. Remember a few years ago when they were talking about eliminating Saturday delivery? And now they've got people working 7 days! #WhatAPlace

Thanks for the vids. Im pretty far in the application process where all I have left are the fingerprints for the criminal background check. This far in, I look up forum posts and yt vids to see how the job is, unofficial rules, etc. Most of them are very pessimistic and made me nervous. I have been given helpful info such as 6 day work weeks and the physical nature of the job (of course, its a mail carrier position). However, it's made out to be the worst job ever. Other jobs Ive researched and worked in are often better than people online make it out to be. Of course theyre never perfect but still better than the worst. Your vids helped me calm my nerves and gave good advice like that one vid of yours where you recommend bringing lots of your own water in a cooler or something

Sunday is funday to me. I love Amazon delivery days. I'm a rural carrier and Sundays are light compared to all the other days so I finish up and go help whoever is struggling. The reason USPS delivers Amazon on Sunday is because of money. Amazon pays them a lot of money to do the deliveries on Sundays and Holidays.
@GungraveFreak Жыл бұрын
That used to be the case for our office. Then, they moved the central Amazon Sunday hub to an office 30mins further away. A bigger office, with dozens of routes, and people who are constantly "sick" (no call no show). Now I'm working 10-12hrs EVERY Sunday on top of the 60+ hours Mon-Sat...

We have carriers come in and deliver mail on Sunday, which they're not supposed to do, but management orders them to do it. The problem is that all that mail is getting credited to parcel time, and effectively that mail has just disappeared come Monday. Those routes will get much longer with the next route adjustments.

Yo'! I'm in my second week of CCA. But here's the catch. I spent my 140-days probation as a USPS collector at the main plant. I asked to switch to a station to carry mail. WTF was I thinking? Might can't stand me because they can't treat me like a newbie. 8 days as a CCA and I'm already filing my first grievance against mngmt tomorrow. I'm at war with my station. I was doing my own box on Day 3 being at my station because my OJI had the day off. It will come to you with practice and patience. Wow! Now, imagine working for UPS PVD? I did that for two seasons and your truck looks light compared to what I carried on a daily basis, which translates to six days a week! Try 150 stops with four to five packages each, and sometimes I’d deliver 25 heavy packages for two runs! Some boxes came from China and they were ridiculously heavy! I would time myself in how many hours would 150 stops be? Usually, that was five hours straight! No stops for breaks, or lunch! The only time I’d stop was to go back to the warehouse and pick up more packages. If I finished early, which happened often, I delivered other people’s routes. Usually, from those lazy losers who didn’t finish their routes, and those who just quit. So that would mean an additional 60 or so more stops. So during peak that meant 200-250 stops, which sometimes reached 300 during peak. That was ten hours of driving with a ten to 15 minute break to eat something and go to the bathroom. I could’ve taken a longer break, but you weren’t paid for that time and I didn’t want to push the day until it got too dark and try to find my delivery stops in the dark. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend working for Amazon or UPS prior to working for USPS. That’s because they totally prepare you for the job of CCA. You won’t regret the experience and you’ll be faster in your delivery time, which makes you less tired during the day. Anyway, regardless of my experience, I wish you all the best and hang in there, and by no means ever give up! Besides, I believe in you. One day you might consider becoming a supervisor and have a starting salary of $80,000. In fact, you can start right after you do your CCA time! God bless!
