CCA here almost 7 months in. Everything Nick said is true. You are gonna have good days and bad ones. When you don’t know a route it’s gonna suck but the more you do them. The better you will get at them. Physically. Things are gonna hurt. Whether it’s your feet. Your back. Arms. Etc. Don’t quit and don’t give up. Yes it gets better. The more you do. I'm a carrier in Denver (we have 26 stations) and we are so short of carriers that CCAs are getting converted to PTF straight out of training. Which is good for them, except that some of these carriers can't do the job. Some of them can only get parcels done in eight hours and they bring back all the DPS and flats. It's tough to fire a regular carrier even if he's still in his first 90 days. The union will argue that the carrier hasn't received the proper training, which in fairness is often true.

Yesterday was a bad day for me also. It was the first day by myself on a new route I never done. I got half the route done and I must of missed five or six packages in about 12 hours. They sent 2 carriers to take the rest of the route from me around 7 at night. It wasn't the worst day of my life but it did suck. Today was a lot better I just did my usual swing route.

I know this is 7 months old, but one of the tricks I tell the newer guys is think of all of the hits on a route as pieces of a pizza.... Just take one piece at a time, get the mail out and delivered and go from there. The streets and the addresses never really change so once you've delivered some place a couple times you will know where to go which is a huge part of the job. It definitely gets easier the longer you do it.

I'm thinking of applying to a position that just opened up in my village (3,300 in the village and I'd guess 5,000 total in the township/zip code). I think knowing the area will give me an advantage, but depending on how fast the employment process goes I might get enter in the busy Christmas time. I'm single, but I do have a dog to walk, so I'm a bit concerned about that. I've never seen USPS workers out late delivering around here so that gives me hope.

My truck was completely stuffed with packages to where the were falling out when I opened the back door. I took a minute and let my emotions go and finished the day. Everyday is a new day. Take a step back and take a deep breath. You were trying to drive a vehicle you never driven before. There's going to be anxiety. Pay attention and learn all you can. You'll be more comfortable in the llv than your own car eventually.

You get paid for every second you're on the clock. If you're struggling they will have a carrier go help you. If that happens a lot though carriers will start to hate you. In the beginning it's not a big deal though.

@@MailmanNick idk bruh out here I'm Denver I've been filing grievances for like six months and they just pay out the remedy pay...kind of a catch 22 and sad the inconsistency across the nation. We out here got regulars working 65-80 hours a week, myself included, and I just got no idea how to approach it especially when people put themselves out there for the penalty and grievance pay. It really draws lines on things. I also sadly believe CCA are exempt from grievance pay via 12/60. Would really wish you all got paid more starting since it's a competitive market. Anyways I've rattled on enough. Keep up the content green one and enjoy the positivity you spread. Life is what you make it and this job is not for everyone. 😎

He's honest. The post office is failing and losing money, has been for years. Applying now gets you a miserable job, where you give up any and almost all free time. I ain't getting enough hours for this to be worth it, no holiday leave no sick leave, no benefits, no retierment plan until or when I become a regular as a RC. God knows when that might be, I have people at my station 6 years still no space for them to be regular. I thought I'd be banking it I thought I'd be working 6 days a week...I'll give it till January 2023
