I think the Titan earned the right to keep her name. I agree the G should have been a super-advanced cruiser. A better ending would have been them approaching the USS Titan with Picard thinking that was Jack's first posting and then they pass over it and approach a never before seen class of ship called the USS Picard. Kind of like a nod to the ending of Star Trek IV.

If the D would have been crewed for a 5 year stint while the F was being repaired and refit, they could have a decommissioning ceremony and a relaunching with the possibility of Legacy being written.

Honestly I was expecting a whole new ship called the Picard. Let the Titan earn its place and leave the Enterprise for another moment.

I think the Titan should have remained the Titan. The Titan did heroic things, so that name should be elevated… Should stand on its own. There could be a new ship named Picard and another christened Enterprise G.

I disagreed with renaming the Titan. There didn't seem to be a real reason for that. A new ship should have been named Picard and the Enterprise F should have been repaired.

Titan or Picard, honestly keep it the Titan so you can build the lore of a new ship name.

I like many nailed it without any insider knowledge. I was expecting to see the USS Picard, wanted it to be the USS Picard, and.... gah what a cop out. It would have given the whole series it's purpose. Disappointing.

I think going from an odyssey class to the titan is a downgrade for the enterprise

It's a Constitution III class starship, the Enterprise A was a Constitution II class.

That would've made a helluva lot more sense instead of the silly fan service decision. The Titan is not fit to be the Enterprise.

Honestly I wish they'd kept the name Titan. It feels like the Enterprise has had it's day now. And from lower decks and Picard season 3 the name Titan felt just as important as the Enterprise.

I found the scene a big let down because they seemed to be hinting to name the ship Picard but didn't. I was so confused. Ok enterprise...what does that mean. What does G mean? Why is Picard so emotional? Not justified for me.

Every Starship Enterprise was 'The Best' that the Federation had to offer. And I'm mixed on the re-christening for that reason and the fact that it Takes away from the Starship Titian-A...it had just saved the Federation and most of the Alpha & Beta Quadrants. This is almost a slap in the face to that ship and crew. To have re-named Titan 'Picard' would have been alright with fans, I think...or a similar ship being named Picard. But...as you said, it was fan service and I understand Terry's reasoning for doing this, I just Disagree.

I hate the neo constitution. It's such a rubbish ship! It should never have been renamed Enterprise G. Naming it Picard would have been better, but better still would to have left it as Titan and revealed a new ship as the Picard. A BETTER ship as Picard!

Enterprise F was a far superior design, they should have found a way to repair it. This renamed Enterprise G is a significant downgrade.

They should have kept to that idea instead of naming it Enterprise. The Enterprise is supposed to be a flagship, not one of the line ships.

Apparently Titan was a Luna-class "capital ship", which I guess is the most important active class, so it somewhat makes sense. I was very confused, since I had the impression that the Titan was something more like a mid-range vessel. It's still a little weird to rechristen another ship to Enterprise, since I assume Enterprise will still be the flagship, as every Enterprise before it. I think the real reason is that "they" wanted Enterprise for the possible Star Trek: Legacy series. However, considering the cast tease, it definitely should not be set on the Federation flagship. That naming decision is so stupid, that I feel like "they" in this case must be an override from Alex Kurtzman. I hate him so much.

​@@waferion474 the alternative ending was more likely to avoid critics spoiling the ending. They said two enterprises would show up and the ending they recommission a existing ship to be the new Enterprise. Ironically that's also the Backstory of the A.

The ship shouldn't have been renamed. It also would not be appropriate to call it the USS Picard. He didn't do it on his own...\
