Dar'argo I dislike that the anime stuff have started to refer to first original series as " _First Season_ " when it's a completely different series ?_? The *original* Utawarerumono, while ironically being based on an Eroge is one of my favorite anime for sure. This one was such a disappointment, and I sat through the whole thing just hoping, it'd get better.. Itsuwari no Kamen, *never* got better :/ Sure they removed the Fanservice towards the end in favor of drama but, it still wasn't good. Too " _modern anime_ " simply put.

I get what you're saying about the season/series, but series tends to be thought of as an anime as a whole. So while it may tell a different story, It's still Utawarerumono and it may get confusing to start calling it a different series. For example, I refer to Bake/Nise/Nekomonogatari etc. etc. as the Monogatari series. Also, good thing I dropped it when I did. lol

Play the visual novel games Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth. You’ll see how the stories connect to the first season and the characters from the first season do tie into the all three stories. Mask of Truth goes back to the more serious tone that the first season had so hopefully that one will get an anime soon. I didn’t particularly mind the second season, but in terms of action, the first season wins hands down sure; tied with the Mask of Truth. I was glad to see some returning characters further down the line though in season 2, and some loose ends ere explained like the origin of the human animal hybrids and the real power of the masks.
