Having the colors be orange/red and pink/purple for the teams was really nice. It was a lot easier to follow the action rather than the teams being the same color. Nicely done on this tournament Marc. Been so much fun to watch
@denheer5 күн бұрын
100% agree with this. Those color themes significantly enhanced the game's clarity for me, making it much easier to follow both the action and the players.
@MrJerryArt5 күн бұрын
what! For me it was the fully opposite. I rather much prefer two colors. I already know which race which player is with and on two colors it's best in the big and small fights. Four colors (and these exact ones) was like seeing 3 players only.

@ Good to know, I was already wondering if this color combination might not be ideal for some people, especially considering the various forms of color blindness.

@CamiloCBG4 күн бұрын
Same color for a team is meh, as they were different races, we can tell who each player is (not in the mini map though). The best setup for me is when the colors are just slightly different within the team (e.g.: orange and red VS purple and pink is nice). If the colors are too different (like red and blue on the same team) then it immediately becomes the worst experience because it is ridiculously confusing.

Very cool 2v2 games. Another idea to solve the mineral gifting problem is to start with a crazy tax, like 50%, and after each minute the tax decreases by like 5%. After 10 mins there are no penalties anymore. It would make eary feeding very ineffective and in the lategame giving teammates money still viable.

Player colours are great as long as they're similar colours per team, like purple and pink. If purple and pink had been on opposite sides, it may have been more difficult to tell who was who. Given that pro 2v2 is still rather new it might not be a big problem, but at least its an easily prevented one.

The timer is good because it doesn't change the opener timings. The percentage is good because it makes sure they continue to build infrastructure. By having both you can allow lower percentage while still preventing one person from building all the production buildings

Way more complex but a time based tax scale would be interesting. Normal feeding window but at the 3:45 is 50% tax and then scales down to eventually 0 so in the late game you can help a wounded teammate rebuild without tax. Love the tourneys can't wait to watch the February tourney!

As a non-SC2 player but long time viewer of your channel and all your cheeses, my feedback to this experiment would be that the 7 minute delay games were far more enjoyable to watch than the resource tax games. As you stated, with the 7 minute delay, both players on both teams have to build their bases and participate in the fights. It is very boring to watch a feeding frenzy into Phoenixes and just seeing 1v1 where the player with the better ping usually wins. What I would have liked to have seen for game 5 seeing as this was purely experimental, would have been to turn off feeding altogether just to see all 4 players support each other both defensively and offensively. It then becomes a game where if one player is being targeted by both opponents, your teammate's responsibility to defend you becomes paramount to surviving or not. Anyways, regardless, this was a banger of an episode and all 4 players popped off! =)

While variable tax over the course of the game would probably be best solution, it is probably impossible to implement, so i'd actually prefer something like what you initially proposed for last game: 5 min trade disabled + 10% tax. I think there always should be some inefficiency when feeding and it should be noticeable. Not sure if anything below 10% is noticeable tho.
@luz_reyes_6765 күн бұрын
in these matches, it is a little after 7min and 30% tax
@kunzadar4 күн бұрын
There might be some more interesting options for feeding. If all players could see how much resources were given then there could be information given, or mind games. Another option would be to implement lockouts after feeding. For example if you give resources to one player then you cannot give resources again for 2 minutes or something. The lockout discourages constantly funneling all resources. The feeding player could bank first, but that is inefficient.
@Yngin4 күн бұрын
Would be interesting for each game to add after the victory screen a list of how much was fed between team mates for each team, as well as how much lost to taxes 🤔
@liameleven4 күн бұрын
Another test I think might work is to have the feeding tax reduce as the game goes on. Enable transfers at 2 minutes with a ~50-70% tax, and every two minutes after reduce the tax by 5-10%. It might not be possible to configure it that way, but if it is, I can see it being a good middle ground where early strats are possible but discouraged, and late game recovery transfers aren't punished as severely/at all.

Game 2 was an epic back-and-forth banger. Really fun format. I like the 15% tax to feeding. Like you said in the video, it forces all players to meaningfully participate in the game and use their creativity to gain an edge over the opponent. I don't agree with delaying feeding to 7 minutes because it seems overly oppressive, especially since either team can choose to feed their teammate. Feeding doesn't necessarily give an advantage to one team over the other team, especially in mirror matchups like this. The 15% tax was, in my opinion, the most balanced ruleset. Obviously, we need to see more 2v2s to be certain. XD

Swapping the naturals has also the advantage that you dont have to split your army to defend some drops. For example, it is easier to defend terran attacks where the terran attacks the natural, kills some workers, pick up its army and flies to the main. If you swap the naturals, you can defend your main and your partner his natural (or vice a versa). No army splits required.

I have always enjoyed watching your videos, but the recent addition of 2v2 (and 3v3 / 4v4 as well) has been amazing. Totally agree that a all in feed build is rather boring to watch despite it being a winning strat. If at all possible, I would love to see a limit placed on the total number of shared resources. I dont think its possible (maybe with a mod?), but limiting say 1000/1000 being able to be transferred total would be really interesting as teams would have to determine when is the best time to pump that resource share. Do they use that early for a push, or do they save it for later to try and do a big closing push. Either way I do like the idea of limiting the resource sharing in some way because seeing one person from the 4min mark essentially not play kind of defeats the purpose of a 2v2. EDIT: For the 1000/1000 scenario, that could also be both team mates so 4000/4000 total for all players total. So maybe Player1 gives 500/500 early, then 500/500 a little later, and then Player2 gives 1000/1000 for a late game push and that would be both players total shared for that team.
@luz_reyes_6765 күн бұрын
Yea, and maybe have it just get taxed more and more the more you feed? Though, your idea is way more straight forward, I wonder what would make a good maximum limit to feed. Are we limiting the possible strats if we set it to 1000/1000?
@perfectfire3 күн бұрын
I want to see a 1v1 all-races tournament. Every match is best of 5 and each time you win with a race you can’t use that race again. I bet a lot of games go to the 5th game where you get to see each players’ worst races against each other. As the games in each match go on it devolves from super-clean high-level play to absolute clusterfucks.

5m30s no feeding. Better for early recovery, but late enough to not boost 1st tech. I dunno if it's possible, but a tax that went down over time could be cool, e.g. 20% 5m30s, down to 10% 7m30s, down to 5% after 10m.

Amazing games! I love the 2v2 tournaments! My 2 cents. Resource sharing is not the problem. Clem needs to adjust. As a mass phoenix player in team games I can tell you mass Viking easily counter them but upgrades (attack, armor and range) are very important for both sides in this battle. Viking are also more useful late game than phoenix. I feel bad for Trigger because the Protoss ways to be nix are blink stalker and nix but are hard to do with high ping. Trigger was also behind on upgrades which made him lose the nix battle in last game. Clem could also counter by mixing mines or thor on "noob" mode. Phoenix are faster than detection so mines work really well for defense of mineral lines Thor are better for attacking because nix need to clump up to attack or will die easily to the marines. Battlecruisers also work really well in the mid game against the nix, carrier battles. Maxpax and Spirt are just the better team. We need to stop trying adjust the game around terrans refusing to make or use certain units. Thanks for the games Marc!

i wish there was a mod that made it so trading could be done as early as the 1 minute mark but at a 90% tax. (so completely dumb and shouldnt be done.) but as time goes on the taxes go down as time goes on 3 minute (40%) 5minute (30%) 7minute (15%) and then 10 minutes-12 minutes drop it to 5-10% and if the game gets to 15 minutes? drop it to 0% they obviously are either making the best macro game. or scrounging and pooling what minerals and gas they can gather to make that extra tank or tempest. anyways ill leave it to the experts i just love to think of things and situations like this. Keep up the wonderful content, LOVE the 2v2's it makes for so much less formulaic stuff than 1v1's i think it also makes for some really interesting strats and combo's allowing for a more fun VIEWING experience which is likely 90% of the people interested in SC2 anymore. (still have those in the campaigns from GGG, and the people watching 1v1 streams with serral and all them. and then the arcade is still popular. but this would introduce a whole new world and a breath of fresh air to a stagnant game.)
