I have one of those. Fill the bottom compartment with water, the middle chamber with coffee grounds, slightly tamped but not filled all the way either, and then attach the top park back on.. Throw that baby on the stove on medium heat, and it'll start to bubble. Turn the heat down when this happens so it doesn't overflow. When that happens you can lift the lid and you can watch the coffee percolate out through that center spout. The bottom and top parts are equal parts water, so when that top fills up/no longer has anything coming through the center, you've got your coffee
@petiefrankland

Somethings to add, it does not overflow if the correct amount of water is in the bottom compartment, as long as the water is not intruding on the space of the coffee grounds compartment then your good. Rmember to screw the lid on tight. It's really very simple and a 30 second tutorial is sufficient to understand it.

Seth! I still use one of those here in the States to make my Cuban Coffee from time to time! Pretty easy, just fill up the cup with water, not to the brim. Then add the grounded coffee to the piece with small holes in it, put the top on nice and tight and then give it some time to brew. I hope that makes sense lol but I love those things.

old school coffee maker is the best thing on earth : you put water in the lower part, you put coffee in powder in the central part. You close everything, and put the thing on the hotplate. When you hear a sound like it's boiling, it means the coffee its ready to be served directly from the upper part. This coffeemaker is called a "Moka".

Coffee maker, very simple...fill bottom container with water up to the little "vent" on the side. Put coffee in the strainer basket (first time for taste, full basket, loosely filled, hard core drinkers will actually fill completely and tamp it down), and place basket with coffee in the bottom container with the water. Screw on the top "container" pot (with the handle) snugly/tightly. Turn on heat and once heated, you will start hearing the hot water/steam force the brewed coffee into the upper container. You can lift the lid during this process and see the "pot" filling up. Once filled, you are done. Keep in mind this is strong "espresso-type" coffee that you will most likely need to add milk and sugar.

Moka pot tips : fill the lower part with water until you reach the level of the valve. Fill the coffee tank with fine grind coffee and put it in the water tank. Screw the upper part. Put it on the stove and wait for the water to boil. When it starts boiling turn off the fire and waiting for your coffee to fill the upper part. Enjoy 😉

Not the fine grind! Medium grind, a bit finer than essopresao grind but not much. Fine grind coffee, like for the turkish coffee, will pass through the sit, clogh the moka and make a mess of it. And less tasty coffee :)

This is typical Italian Coffee Maker. Reliable and lasts life time. Pour water in bottom compartment, grounded coffee in middle and attach top section. Let it heat up on stove and the steam pour from the top. It will make bubbling noises to let you know that the coffee is done and should see full cup of coffee on top. Strong espresso coffee to enjoy with incredible smell (ofcourse depends on grounded coffee). Very cheap to have at home. May be $20 from IKEA ? :)

It’s a moka pot. Italian coffee maker. You need ground beans. 1. Fill the insert (funnel looking part) with coffee grounds - don’t press in. 2. Fill the base with hot water just up to the valve. 3. Place on stove with lid open on a medium heat. 4. Watch for the coffee coming up. 5. When it starts to bubble take it off the stove and run the base under cold water tap. 6. Pour and enjoy with sugar* or milk. * If you’re like me your sweet enough 😂😂

Hey Seth! That's a Moka, an Italian coffee maker. Here in Italy every house has one 😉. To make coffee you have tu put water in the bottom peace till the valve, after that put inside the other middle piece (funnel-shaped) and there you put your ground coffee. Finally screw the last piece and leave it on the fire until the coffee comes out 🔥 Hope I was helpful

Hahaha I love you Seth! "The old coffee machine" 😂. Okey, you have to fill the base of the Moka with water until the half of steam valve. Now you have to fill the coffee filter, tap the coffee filter gently on the table a few times to compact the coffee. close the top of the moka very well and put it on the gas at minimum intenisty.

Seth, that coffee maker is called moka pot and very simple to use. The lower part of the moka pot is filled with water. The middle part, that goes into the water container, is for the grounded coffee beans you put the coffee inside, just put it, do not press it beacause it doesn't work like an espresso machine. And finally you put the upper part and put it on the stove, medium hot and wait for the coffee to come up. :) cheers :D

Hi Seth, in order to use the old style coffee maker, named Moka, you have to open it, remove the filter, add the water in the water heater (bottom part) till the level of the external valve; put in back the coffee filter previously removed and add there the coffee powder. Screw the top part of the coffee machine. Turn on the heating , place upon it the coffee machine and wait till it whistles. Let the heating on till the coffee starts to flows out. Enjoy...hope it is understandable 😂

Place a bowl of cold water to one side. Fill the middle chamber with medium ground coffee to the top and level off. Fill the bottom chamber with some water upto the pressure release valve level. Insert middle chamber into the bottom chamber attach the top vessel and screw all the lot together tightly. Place on a medium heat leaving the lid up and watch carefully. Let the coffee filter through to the top vessel, and at the point the coffee starts froth, quickly whip it off the boil and place the bottom of the pot into the cold water in the bowl. This stops the bitter coffee making its way through the bottom chamber. Pour and enjoy.

Mocha pots make the best coffee!!! Fill the bottom section with warm water (stops the coffee burning) up until the little spout. Fill the insert with coffee (don't squash it in, just a nice level serving). Pop it on the stove on medium and wait for the coffee to come through. Once it's bubbling, turn it off and voila!

I LOVE the Moka Pot, bought one after we visited Italy in 2018. My only gripe is that if it's a single-serving size (which yours is) you have to keep making cups over and over again (if you drink crazy amounts of coffee all day, like I do). Then again, the ritual is kinda fun and I use it to break up my day. Enjoy! They make strong, good coffee. Use fine ground, also.

Quick procedure for true coffee happiness using the Moka: 1) put water in the bottom recipient. Mind the valve and make sure water does not go above it. Rule of thumb: filling up about 80% of the bottom recipient. 2) close it with the odd funnel-shaped thing, with the funnel pointing down. 3) put the coffee powder on top of it. This is where you will need to try until you are happy with how strong the final product is. 4) close it with the biggest piece (the one you will need to screw up) 5) turn on fire. Not too much, not too little. Enough for you to be happy 6) wait about 4 minutes, until you start smelling happiness. When that happens, lower fire. 7) for optimal flavor and sustainable happiness, it is highly recommended that you foam-roll during these 4 minutes.

That's a Moka Pot. Fill the bottom with hot water until just below the valve. Then put in the coffee filter and fill it with coffee all the way to the rim. Don't pack it down though. Then screw on the top, put it on the stove on high until the coffee is done coming out the top. That's it! :-)

Hello Seth, put water in untill right under the litlle knob on the unside. Put the thing with the litlle holes in with the pin pointing below. Put coffee in that. Not complete full is nu experience because than the coffee will be very strong. Goodluck!

I read some comments about the "old-school cofee maker" and I confirm them all. But I add this little thing: it is a slow process, you will need to wait about five minutes! ;) About the question of the day, this edition champions: François D’Haene (M) and Courtney Dauwalter (W). Tomorrow, I will race in a valley very near to the your, but on the italian side of the Alps. I cannot exclude to try to find you at the end of the race! And last but not least, congratulations for you victory in the Pikes Peak! :)

QD: ill go with jim walmsley and Courtney Dauwalter. alreddy see some good info on howe to use the coffie maker. The name of this type of koffie maker is percolator. It makes some realy nice strong coffie! safety tip, dont fill up the bottem half with watter past the pressure relief valve. so in case to much pressure builds up it can realeas steam.
