A perfect tribute to the King, from another great singer, Bill Medley. I especially love the mention of his mother, " a lonely pain we refused to see." A haunting song, and heart-wrenching photos of beautiful Elvis, that take us down into the distant past, that seems like yesterday. This song was written and produced, apparently, a few years after his death...and yet, 40 years later, oh my God, it is so hard to believe, we feel the same sadness for the loss of this wonderful soul. You expressed my feelings perfectly. Now 43 years, and I still feel the same. I miss him so much still. I still watch his movies and listen to his music, and yet every year on August 16, I find myself right back here watching this video and feeling a tremendous sense of loss with tears in my eyes. I was only 18 back in 1977, but the world just hasn't been the same since then. Elvis brought so much joy to so many people in so many ways. He made the world a better place. I marvel, too, that he thought no one would remember him. There's never been anyone like him, and there never will be.

I look back on My life and one of the highlights was simply being around when Elvis was in the charts competing with all of the big pop groups from England And America. Class Act by Bill Medley formerly of the Righteous Bros... The used to hang out in the early 70's, elvis performed in the big room and Bill in the casino room, ans sometimes Elvis would surprise him on the show as he had to pass his stage to get to the elevator, one night he surprised him, the next night his show was sold out, because peopel thought he might do it again, he sure did a few times, and they were truly good "old friends" Bill Medley still sounds super great, and performs at the Harrahs residency 3 months of the year

This song was written by Bill Medley for a Country LP he did for RCA,Titled "Still Hung Up On You"in 1984.It was Bill's only gold solo album.Believe it's out on CD.Pricilla asked him sing"Old Friend"as the theme from the Showtime special "Elvis Presley's Graceland"I've heard Bill say he was blessed to have known "The King".Bill Medley's 1st 2 solo LP's[1968-69] Medley 100%&Soft&Soulful were recently released together on CD,when his voice was at it's peak and are gems.

Elvis is still ALIVE !! That was NOT Elvis in that casket ! It was a Wax Dummy ! That is what was in the 900 lb Copper Casket along with a portable cooling unit to keep the Wax from melting.Everyone that observed the '' body '' in the coffin noticed that the forehead had '' beads of moisture ''. Gene Smith, Elvis's 1st cousin, said that the Sideburns had been glued on and kept coming loose! Gene also stated that one could feel the ''chilled air'' all around the casket that was coming from a cooling unit within the coffin. When Gene asked Vernon where Elvis was , Vernon replied , '' He's safe, Don't worry ,He's Upstairs resting. We had to put something on display for the fans ! '' ELVIS did NOT Die on August 16, 1977 ! NO ONE is actually buried there at the Meditation Garden in back of the Mansion. Only the top layer of sod was removed for the placement of the Bronze Memorial plaques ! Those are just there for the Fans and the Tourists. Went to Graceland last summer as a then 21 year old who was interested only in country and some pop. Was never that interested in Elvis and never knew why he was so popular and remembered so much even through today (although I liked some of his songs), but after visiting Graceland, I have been hooked on his life, and his music. His music was THE MUSIC of this past generation. Now I want to go back to Graceland to experience it all again! RIP to the King!
