It's a bit of both, I think. Rin is saying that the crowd is chasing after an idea of being unique. Miku herself is only following the path of those before her, given the rules that she should "speak her mind" even though she clearly doesn't understand why or what that does for her. She manages to battle her way to the front, but doesn't know how to lead, and realizes that she CAN'T lead, because the pack isn't following HER, they're following the idea of uniqueness. Rin on the other hand goes against the grain - she believes that there's nothing inherently wrong with being average, and that most of these people should accept that that's all they are - and if they really do want to be unique, they need to prove they understand what being unique really IS without just following a mold made by the leader.

初めはサウンドの良さに惚れて何回も聴いてましたが、改めて歌詞を把握しながら聴いたら、創作する人間として本当に身につまされる内容で、「え？何で私の心の中知ってるの？」と思いました。 何か生み出そうと思って、他の人がやってないことをやりたくて、ここなら皆あんまし手をつけてない！！と思って鼻息荒く創作のネタ考えますが、大抵既に他の人しかも自分より技術高い人が手をつけてるんですよね。問題なのはそこからで、それを見て「やーめた」ってやる気をなくしちゃうんですよね。他の人がやってるなら私やる意味ないや〜なんて大口叩いて、実はそれって本気で創作するのを怠ってる言い訳なんですよね。(自分に向けて言ってます) まさに「私だけが知ってる ならどうして舗装済み」状態。 名だたるPや絵師がサクサク作品を生み出すのをただ眺めるだけで、自分は何も生み出さずにアイデアだけ練って、「自分はこんなにすごいものを作れるんだ」「自分は天才だ」と信じながら、自分はきっと何者かになるのだと信じながら、しかし決して頭の中から外にはそのアイデアは形になって出ないのです。それでいて他の人がなんかすごいの生み出したら悔しがるんです。そうやって今まで創作界隈で過ごしてしまいました。 側から見たら、ただ言うだけ言って何もしてないじゃんお前という状態です。自分もまさにこの歌のように、尖った視点で世間にツッコミを入れるぞ的な物申す系コバンザメでした。大事なのは何よりも形にすることだし、たとえ歳下のすげー奴が世の中に溢れていても、その人が何をしてたかというと「本気でクリエイターになるために勉強した」「作品を世に出し続けた」というのが一番の理由で、自分は単にそれをしてこなかった、ただそれだけなんです。 18の子とかと自分を比べて嫉妬に狂う奴でしたが、今はそれがお門違いなことに気付きました。ただ学ぶのが早いか遅いかの違いだけなんだと、思えるようになりました。もう社会人になってだいぶ経ちますが、これからボカロPになるための色々なスキルを身につけたいと思います。長文失礼しました。

The gradual shift from the beginning design (0.35) to what we end up with (2.53) is incredible. I said this half a year ago and it still stands. That all-encompassing drop at 2:03 can shatter dimensions.
