At last I got the full clarity and idea on UV mapping. I have watched almost 50 to 60 videos in the last 5 days to learn UV mapping. I found that only 4 or 5 videos are really helpful to the beginners. Wantedly, I have watched your video after watching all other's videos. Because I know the highest levels of your teaching skill. Once again this video validated yours supremacy in the Blender teaching domain. Thank you so much.

You linked me this earlier today. You truly are an incredible person. You are by far the best person at explaining this I have ever come across. Everyone else just jumps through it, skips parts or uses hotkeys that they don't explain, leaving you in the dust. I am going to go through all of your videos that I can to learn from you. Thank you for linking me this.

Hi, just a quick tip, instead of going to select menu to select edges, you can hold Alt + Click on the vertex and it will auto select the linked edges or vertices

Nice tutorial, thanks! I have a question though: imagine an object in edit mode with several faces. To one face I have assigned an image, UV unwrapped and positioned. Now: how to I copy the UV info (the map?) from that face to other identically shaped faces of the same object? So far I have "resolved" it by hand assigning and unwrapping the same image to each face but I really think there must be a better (faster) way.... what do you say? I am curious! Thanks in advance!

Go to Edit > Preferences > Add-on and enable Magic UV. It comes free and bundled with Blender, no need to download anything. Just enable it. Now you can copy-paste UVs from one face to another. Read more about how to use it here: docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/addons/uv/magic_uv.html

My UV Editor shows the mapping I want to see, but the 3D Editor does not show the mapping indicated in the UV Editor. I can try "Unwrap" or "Smart Unwrap" and they show different mappings, but none are reflected in the 3D Editor. I can't figure it out. Help.

Hi, can you please save your blend file just the way it is right now, and send over to us at 5minblender@gmail.com? It would be very easier for us to debug when we look at your file instead of trying to guess what might have gone wrong in this case.

But what if the model is complex like an spartan from halo for example and the textures are already applied and just needs it's UV to be fixed but without damaging the textures?
@5MinutesBlender
@5MinutesBlender 10 ай бұрын
You can edit an existing UV map, like scaling it up or down, moving individual UV boundaries etc. Each face of your mesh is mapped to one polygon of the UV map. Unless you make any dramatic changes to the UV map like changing the unwrap method or merging two maps, the texture will remain connected to the UV map as it was. I understand that you just need to fine-tune some UV map. If you need to re-do the UV map from scratch, you will need to do the texture mapping afresh.

i have a problem with that. the model that i have , his mesh , dosent appear on uv . i have putted multiple textures in there but still it doesnt show in the uv . Do you know why does that happen?
@5MinutesBlender
@5MinutesBlender 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, if you ditto followed this tutorial, it will help me to understand if you can give me the exact timestamp from the video where you are getting a different result. But in a nutshell, the sequence should be like this: in the edit mode you open the texture in the UV editor and then unwrap the selected faces on that editor in order to create the map. Then select that same texture in the material. From your description, I am not sure about the sequence of your actions.

I got a problem, i already do what you said when i do uv editing on cube or plane there is no problem at all, but when i try the circle one and i go to the uv editor the circle in uv editor is so small and i cant even scale it up can you tell me how to fix this problem, thank you
@5MinutesBlender
@5MinutesBlender 2 жыл бұрын
Did you first "fill" the circle to create a face? A circle is just a line, it has no surface. Select all the vertices in the edit mode, then under the Vertex menu, select the option to create a new face. Then you can easily work on it in the UV editor.

I am in Edit mode, but the UV editor still blank. I select the object with the texture, go to UV editor tab, make sure the object is in Edit mode, and I should see the map of the texture in the left window, but all i see is the blank square.
@5MinutesBlender
@5MinutesBlender 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I guess you are yet to unwrap the object, so the UV map is showing blank. The UV editor shows the map after the object has been "unwrapped". You might have applied some texture image for the object, but the UV editor won't show that automatically. While in the edit mode, select all the vertices, then from the UV menu, select any one unwrap method. Once you unwrap, the UV editor should show the map. Please let me know if this is the case, or if you are facing a different issue.

You need to open UV Editor side-by-side, select some faces in the edit mode, and unwrap them. Then the map will display in the UV Editor.

This is not good and would not be tolerated in the industry, you should have grid aligned all the middle part and align it to the texture edge.
