What a shame the tour operator let you down. Next time you might want to do the bookings yourself and plan for one or two nights at those places. Hope things go smoother the next time 😊

I was in UZ two weeks ago. I had 2 great days in Samarkand but the following 2 days in Bukhara had freezing rain. That's the chance you take visiting in February. As you learned, the high-speed trains fill up fast, so I took care to reserve at least 2 days in advance.

The interior of the coach car is the same as many of the U.S.' Amtrak service along the East Coast. These are very comfortable, relaxing travels.

My touroperator in Uzbekistan did much better job and I got to spend 2 days in Samarkand and Bukhara each, and this was time well spend. These monuments in these cities require a double visit: guide-accompanied during the day, visiting the annexe musea also. And then a second leasurely walkaround in the early evening to profit from the real enchanted wonderful views and atmosphere. Personally I’m afraid of ‘over organising’ a trip, but underorganising it in a too rapid form with a subpar travel company doesn’t seem to be the ideal solution either.

Yeah, I loved Uzbekistan and really want to go back to see more of the country.

Glad you got to visit Buhara, all the screw ups notwithstanding. And it's a shame the tour operator screwed you over like that. Uzbekistan can potentially become a touism hot spot, but it won't if that's what people will get on arrival. Word of mouth spreads quickly these days on social media, and it won't take too many muck ups to change people's minds about visiting.
@nycflyertravel Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I really enjoyed visiting Bukhara and I’d like to go back to Uzbekistan to explore more. It’s a fascinating country.
