The Uzi submachine gun is based on the CzechoslovakVz 23 sub machine gun, as well as earlier Czech designs. The Uzi has a similar blowback design with wrap around telescoping bolt, which makes the overall length of the weapon much shorter and allows for a relatively long barrel. The Uzi also uses the same mechanics as the experimental Czechoslovak

The ones that were used in Vietnam (in use with some MACVSOG and South Vietnamese, one is seen in the famous footage of the Vietcong execution in saigon) were all FN made too. Would be a cool parts kit to have. I'm guessing IMI had a deal with FN to market it around the world.

I first experienced the UZI in 1973 serving in the IDF. For decades thereafter I experienced numerous SMG's. Regardless of those experiences if I were in the dark under fire, the UZI still would be my first choice. Being able to quick load a new magazine under extreme stress without significantly altering the position of the weapon is a lifesaver. Additionally the UZI is a garbage eater. Never have I experienced a malfunction of any kind except one where the case blew out and scattered brass into the trigger group.

Uzi's are surprisingly easy to control. When I was in Ecuador a policeman let me fire off a magazine for $50 at a checkpoint near the Amazon (no houses, was safe area to shoot). The cyclic rate makes it like a tackdriver.

Gentlemen. The new Uzi machine pistol. Big firepower in a small package. This little baby uses 9 mm hollowpoints. Twenty twenty-five round extendablemags.....rear-flip adjustable sights.Silencer comes standard. Excellent recoil reduction. Muzzle jump reduced forty percent. Sixty percent improved noise suppression. You could pump a mag into me right now and never wake the guy in the next room. Of course, that would eliminate your opportunity for repeat business.

I used the Uzi in the Dutch army in 1997. It was a nice package for us maintenance corporals. When it became obsolete, we received the C7 Diemaco. Of course, a completely different system. It's probably the most decent weapon designed in Israel that actually works. It's not popular under civilian gun owners, though. But they are around. They are worth more deactivated than as real gun here.
