My Dadcar is an Audi RS4 B8.5 Avant. I love it, my daughter loves it too. Great family car and when you want to open it up, you get that awesome V8 NA roar. The last of the generations, where the looks are still subtle and understated, but muscular. Those who know, know and I get many nods of appreciation from people.

When I was 18 an RS6 pulled up drove past me on the dual carriageway, I remember the brake discs were bigger than my alloys. I wanted once since. I've been fairly poor for the last 7 or 8 years but I got a small loan and bought a Audi A6 Avant C7 3.0TDi with 300hp and 600nm of torque and for me its the perfect compromise because I do about 20k a year. But I still have that dream but truthfully, I might stay 3L V6 TDI for the daily and eventually save up for something small and fast instead.

My brother has got the sedan and bought it from it’s first Swiss owner with 225K kilometers on it. Got it tuned to 704 bhp / 1034 NM and it drives so well and never misses a beat. We went to the south of Portugal together: he in his RS6 and I in my (540 bhp) 2013 750Li. Obviously the RS6 is so much quicker now going like a rocket but it surprises me more how well it drives. It is much more stable at high german autobahn speeds and it feels tighter and put together than my 2013 BMW. Cooling is also much better, not changing even in the heat of summer with the twin turbo V10. We both got E63 M6 V10s as well for the sound but overall the RS6 is the go to car if we want to cross country winter or summer. One of the most under appreciated cars now.

Only car I've driven that scared me on the road! And I've owned an e60 M5, W211 E55 AMG and the TTRS. I also used to work for SVO at JLR so no stranger to high performance cars. The only thing I've driven that felt significantly faster was a 2011 Williams F1 car but that was a whole different world and was not on a public road 😂😂. So glad you featured these. Quite looking forward to the C6 vs. C7 comparison. It is something that is on my mind once in a while. C7 does offer all the gadgetry you could ever need (be it softclose, IR & matrix LED lights, all the parking cameras in the world, newer MMI, …), but C6 is just so much closer to my heart. I know, I am an old fart… I meant fashioned. Also there are those little more special “plus” models of C6 with some extra things you might (or might not) want including CC brakes. In any case - from tech perspective C6 is a pain to work on, that oil seal is not the only thing, there are some more pipes in/around the engine bay that do corrode and it’s all the same story - engine out. If you do it all (e.i. “while in there”), good, but as a buyer you never really know if it waits for you. I believe Ricky Elder does have a good video about all of it and his guys could sing a song or two about it. Anyway - great video, looking forward to the C7 and one of them will surely push me over the edge. :D

A friend of mine had one of these for 10 years or so, fantastic car as a family wagon, lots of space. The only issue he ever has was the suspension. It was not a good handling car though, understeered like crazy on track days but that doesn’t matter on the roads. That V10 sounds good until you hear the S85 M5 one next to it, turbos give it 80bhp more, but then again it’s a much heavier car. Drive Tribe did an M5 touring manual conversion on KZbin. If you’re after a family wagon with a special engine that’s what I’d go for, but certainly this was the heyday era for special engines in family cars and the V10 RS6 is right up there. Also if you’re on a tight budget sub £8k check out the Passat R36 estate. Fantastic review and a great Sunday evening watch thanks!

A great review of a truly awesome and unique car. I own one of these, and it is far more capable than a 2 tonne estate has any right to be. It has been reliable and only costs me £460 per year to insure. Yes, the maintenance and running costs are in supercar territory, because that's what it is. I love the fact that it's so rare and understated, no one has a clue what it is capable of until the accelerater hits the stop, then all hell breaks loose from the world's only production twin turbo V10!

Loving this content, keep up the good work! I am constantly feeling the temptation of a heavily depreciated uber-wagon from times of yore. I've said for years; do the due-diligence first for tax, servicing, insurance, fuel, finance (I avoid it but it is an option) etc, but if you can afford something special, be it a humble hot hatch, or a super car, without compromising yourself, don't wait. Because if you wait, it may never happen. Front IsoFix is quite a feature, even today it's not universal! I used to think Audi's were just dull, but these days I appreciate the understated design. The C6 A6 is a very timeless car; it's looks as handsome today as it did when new. But I feel this is a car that knows it doesn't need to visually shout it's credentials; it doesn't care what anyone else thinks. Equally there are lots of nice details like the faired arches.

The C7 was pretty dull, they need an exhaust to make it sound half decent and only get exciting over 100. The 20k sweet spot is the B8.

Love this channel. Eversince I‘ve been a dad I hope you succeed! If I might ask a few things, would it be possible to show how much room there is in the front when a babyseat is placed? Already had to upgrade the misses Q2 to a Q3 Sportback for a little extra passenger room. As we are 1.84 and 1.94 meters cars tend to get small immediately. Other question would be to let us know how the suspension is. I don’t want shaking baby syndrome, so if a car is incredible stiff it might be nice to know beforehand 😊

Not many people realise the car's front end is about 5 inches longer than a standard A6 to accommodate that engine and radiators (as it needs so much extra cooling) and its also about 6 inches wider with those bulging arches.

An uncle had one and my cousin when he was little referred to it as the whoosh car. The engine is immense but there is no disguising the fact that it’s a bit of a fatty when you arrive at a corner and / or hit the brakes. They certainly like a drink if you stamp in the accelerator. I remember having a fairly enthusiastic drive and it averaging 11 mpg. 😂 I thought the C6 felt like it punched a bit harder than the C7 he replaced it with. The C7 was far more vocal too.
