V2 Shock Upgrade for the Jeep Cherokee XJ | Review & Replacement

This week we are back to work on the 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ. Today we will be reviewing the Rough Country N3 Shocks after 20k miles. From there we will be replacing them with New Rough Country V2 Shocks. The video will cover not only the replacement process but the necessary parts needed to complete the job. I got the 3.5 rubicon express and full leaf spring. The shocks are alright but the leafs had to be adjust. So far it’s been good and I’ve had it for 5 years now,

Update on the V2s? I'm considering the V2 and Fox 2.0 for my F150 on a 7" lift with 37s. Any experience between the V2 and 2.0?

Following this as well, did you go for the Fox or Rough country? I’m upgrading my WJ shocks and not sure if I wanna spend the extra $ just for weekend fun or just get a basic upgrade with the Rough Country.

Hey Out Jeeping great video , I went with OLDMAN EMU sport shocks with a 4 1/2 lift and the ride is Outstanding so if you change up go with Bilstein , Fox or OLDMAN EMU

Would like to try them in the future for sure. I would expect them to be better than the N3 series as I expect they will replace them.

Why are the rear shocks mounted different directions? First set was shock body to axle, 2nd set was shock body to sub-frame??

That's just how rough country designed the shocks.

Pretty good so far, they have smoothened out since I installed and are not as stiff.

@@geraldhenrickson7472 any time I ask about the v2 shocks the only answer I get is from people like this that say rough country shocks suck, get 5100s or 2.0s blah blah blah. yet they have never tried the v2 shocks themselves. They are just programmed to hate on rough country without any experience with the v2

Young man, awesome video with lots of detail. I own a 94 with a 3.5 inch Rough Country lift and my ride is stiff and very old-truck feel. Do these new shocks make you ride smoother? Does it ride closer to the smooth ride of a car? Thank you.

The best thing to do for ride quality is get a shackle relocation kit. The stock shackle angle on a Jeep XJ is horrible and worse once you lift it 3" and up.

Well with a lift the springs are a stiffer spring rate and the control arm angles are steeper so you will feel the impact of a bump alot more. With shocks they will help stabilize the vehicle after a bump in the road. So overall these shocks helped with smoothing out the bumps. But the jeep still will not ride like it has independent wheel suspension like newer vehicles.
