It's done! Mike worked out most of the issues of the sheet metal wide body build of his V8 swapped RWD MK3 Golf. With a car like this, it is never really done but for right now, this thing looks sick. In this series finale, Mike fixes what he didn't like on the front fenders, finishes up the side skirts, figures out the bumpers, gets it painted then rips it at Midvale Raceway. #builtbymike
Mike is gearing up for more builds! Let us know what you want to see him create next!
Didn't see the first 2? Check them out:
Part 1: bit.ly/3iMNxxa
Part 2: bit.ly/3jm34Vb
If you are unfamiliar with Mike or his projects, check out the Summer Drift series where he strips a beat up VW MK3, put a BMW M62 engine in it and transforms it into one of the baddest drift cars out there.
Summer Drift Series:
MK3 Build Part 1: bit.ly/3eo3DL8
MK3 Build Part 2: bit.ly/37WQaru
He also completely redid a f*cking UNIMOG!! Check it out here:

Love how much time & effort mike has into it. Definitely will pay back! Only thing I would personally would’ve done different is making a space between the headlight and the fender to make a vent to cool the brakes.

Seeing projects like this, and the effort and the changes all made really inspire me to just keep dreaming about how i want to change my cars. Being able to see someone do so much work and come back and go "Nah thats not right" and just take it apart again and make changes really shows the humanity of taking on a project like this. No one is going to get it right the first time and i think once you've "messed up" it all just gets easier from there. Also i love how theres a concept for what he wants and ideas of what he wants it to be like but theres no drawing, theres no concept art, its just in his head. You just gotta do it and keep going until you get it right. Makes me love the project that much more.

I miss it all the time. Great memories . Would love to drift your car on Mulholland with a GoPro attached. Keep up the great work. Will be in touch I may need this in my collection . Cool style 5's. They look good on the mk3. I had a few sets of them, both 18" staggered versions. Ran them on a few if my e34's. Certainly time consuming polishing them. Digging the swap man. I didn't see the previous videos but that looks like an m62? Hard to see it. It's dark in there.

Use a heat sink whenever possible. A chunk of aluminum, copper, or brass works well as these metals tend to suck out heat better than steel. The heat transfers through this chunk of metal instead of the workpiece. The heat sink can double as a backing bar in some cases. Save you a bunch of time with that air hammer.

I believe what you are really looking for are called coleecos. Coleekos? Anyway, the nascar guys use them when moving body panels around because they can be added or removed from sheetmetal very quickly. They are perfect for holding a panel in place until you have it welded down. I hope I spelled coleeco correctly. Good luck.
