Piano accompaniment and sheet music for one the the most memorable parts of Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Nabucco" (1842), chorus of Hebrew slaves "Va, pensiero". There are few interesting things to mention while talking about this piece and the opera itself, in fact. This is one of the very few Verdi's operas which didn't have libretto written by Francesco Maria Piave. Instead, it was written by Temistocle Solera and it was inspired by Psalm 137, sometimes known as "By the rivers of Babylon". This opera was composed soon after horrific things happened in Verdi's life. His wife and children had died due to various illnesses and he vowed he wouldn't write a single opera after that. But he felt the urge to do it, and this beautiful opera arose. Verdi felt that "this is the opera with which my artistic career really begins. And though I had many difficulties to fight against, it is certain that Nabucco was born under a lucky star". At his death, hundreds of people sang that chorus which indicates how people felt about Va pensiero.
