You have no power over where the elevator is when you press, and nor does the elevator. And there's only one elevator in the shaft. If it is on the floor above you, and you pressed "up" it will still come down and then go up again, because it has to.

For example, if someone gets into the elevator on floor 0 and presses the 8th floor button, and somone on the 5th floor presses the DOWN button, the elevator will go up to floor 8 first and then down to 5 - and the two people won't see each other. However, if the person on the 5th floor presses the UP button, the elevator will stop at 5 on its way up from 0 to 8 - and the two people will meet at the 5th floor.

the lightsaber one. its a thing. its called trakatta. it is shunned by both Jedi and Sith alike as it is seen as "underhanded" and "unsporting". fun fact. the sith abide by rules of combat because they could easily win (and often do by technicality when they do something like pulling down a pillar to cover their escape) by using underhanded or dishonourable tactics, but they seek power, not victory and so doing so does not prove their strength. similarly and yet ironically, the Jedi see it as a form of deception and consider it a practice associated with the dark side. there are a few force user and lightsaber wielders that have used it in the past and in legends there is even a rare one of a kind kyber crystal that makes the blade of the lightsaber almost silent and invisible, making it ideally suited for this practice.

@@battlesheep2552 that was a different context. this is in relation to duels specifically. if a sith wants you dead then they will use whatever tactics they can to do so. if a sith sees you as a worthy challenger however, they will fight (somewhat) fair. its in part why maul did not use the force during his duel for control of Mandalor. he could win easily, but to do so would not have shown his strength. the other part is if he had then he could have been seen as cheating and thus invalidating his victory.

I'm the kind of Minecraft player that makes auto farms, infinite range supercannons with 100% accuracy, and satisf- I mean cruel and unusual traps/death machines... I swear I'm not a monster most of the time! ... even though I sometimes use dogs as expendable test subjects...

If the elevator is below you and traveling up to a floor above you and you press the up button, elevators(based on design of course) will generally then stop on your floor to let you on. If the elevator, like before, is going to travel past your floor going up and you press the down button, it will not stop on the way up, but will go to its current destination floor then return to you.

Because if the farm is made of wood it can be struck by lightning and burn down, which is very likely since most people are AFK when mob farming, Dirt however can't be used to make slabs or trap doors, and for most farms you'd need a bucket anyway which means you would have gotten iron at somepoint which means other than wood cobblestone is the easiest to gather resource that can't burn down. although now when i think of it you could just get some copper to make a lightning rod now but i'm not sure it would matter, because if i'm being honest most people use cobble out of habbit, and a need to get rid of a block that they have tons of chest full of anyway.

For example, imagine of it's on the 1st floor, and someone presses the "up" button from the 10th floor to go to the 11th. Now imagine while it's on the way up, someone presses the "up" button from the 9th floor. The elevator might decide to stop on the 9th floor first before the 10th and continuing up. But if the person on the 9th floor pressed "down", it would just continue to 10th floor and pickup the 9th floor people on its way down.. The algorithm gets WAYYYY more complex when you have more than one elevator.. We don't really stop to appreciate well designed things unless they don't work well or until they fail.

4:11 Actually it does in busy places (and depends on elevator design). If you press the one where you are not going and the elevator opens, it will go in the opposite direction you are going if there is someone inside the elevator going in that opposite direction. Example: you wanna go to ground floor, you press up, elevator going up will open for you to enter and will continue to go up until all stops going up are made. If you press the button going in the direction going down and the elevator is going up, the elevator will skip your floor until it is going down again. Don't ask how I know this, ADHD brain hoards dumb stuff.
