I've gotten crap from family before for packing a small amount of groceries to go on a trip. I think it's so smart and cost effective! I always bring a small jar of peanutbutter (from Frys-$1) and fruit leather/granola bars. If you have it at home, if you know you're going to a place where grocery stores are more expensive, there is nothing wrong with it! The haters can go fly a kite, this is so helpful and I'm happy I'm not the only one who does this! 💜🌵

What a wonderfully relaxing place to rest and recharge! When we go to thrift stores, I look at books and old cookbooks, too. I have many and am trying to buy less, but I still look. 😁 I have my Grandma's hutch. It's early American style and not fancy, but I absolutely love it. Looks like you enjoyed some amazing family time! Thank you for sharing! 💕

Maybe some tips for grocery shopping, how you manage your family's meals, and adjustments you've made to recipes, to help this lifestyle change be sustainable?

My parents were antique dealers plus dad worked as a supervisor at a Detroit auto plant, I have alot of kids, only 2 like antiques. I take after my ma, loving antiques. My grandparents were antique dealers also. They had the Sanford and son pickup! I love antiques and scour flea markets and garage sales. For alot of years I have collected. Especially glass. Kimmy, the cottage was adorable. I love love North Carolina!! If I had my choice I would definitely live in NC. I have lots of relatives in NC. Thank you for a wonderful video ❤ I love it when you say "bedstes red cabbage" in danish "bedstes" means grandmother (in German they would say oma) so i'm wondering if some of your German familyroots make it all the way to denmark. Rødkål "red cabbage" the way you make it, is a traditionel danish dish served on Christmas Eve (where we celebrate and dance around the Christmas tree while singing hymns and Christmas songs) I hope you will have a hyggelig Christmas 🎄Best whishes from Denmark

I like staying in rentals or hotels with a living area and kitchenette. It’s like playing house. 😁 For some reason it’s fun to do mini homemaking away from home. I think my favorite stay was in Midway. It was a town home that had a very disorganized kitchen, which I reorganized for the next visitors. Lol

12:24 Have you or your family met Richard Paul Evans? He is so, so nice. I got to meet him in Sandy once at a book signing, and he signed a book I got for my boss. He also gave my friend his bracelet for her son who has Asperger’s, because he was too sick to come to the book signing. 🥰

Is the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. still a thing in the States? I have seen them in the airport before and when we were in Vegas at one of the Malls that connects the casinos. For those who don't know, it's a restaurant chain, but they also have a Merch shop, and you can buy tinned shrimp in there. I wonder if you'd be able to restock for the shrimp dip you normally make at Christmas. Might have to Google locations and if they have them in the airport you will be either flying out of or into when you go back home.

@lorisarchet773210 ай бұрын
I understand wanting to bring things from home that aren't available at your destination, but you brought things that were the same as at your home. Plus, doesn't your Mom stock similarly as you....couldn't you have shopped her shelves?? My Mom TOTALLY would let me. I'm thinking you had an extra bag of food that probably cost you $50 in baggage fee. It surely would have been cheaper to buy once you arrived. Just thinking for when my family & I travel to stay at a rental house.
