I truly feel your pain in droves! Two of my kids and a grandson are autistic and fries touching is minor! The food isn’t allowed to be the same color so the won’t eat Kraft Mac and cheese with sweet potatoes 🍠! I don’t want any thing to eat! When you sit down for your first bite “ Didn’t you make me anything “ It does look like...fill in the blank with any food! One craves fast food and the other won’t touch it unless it’s a hamburger happy meal! There is no deviation from that request in eleven years now! One is afraid of meat and suspect vegetables are aliens 👽 with poor disguises! No matter where what I buy or make at home there is a certainty I must make several different meals! And dear merciful one I also have a diabetic husband who is on a restricted diet! And granddaughter has allergies to peanuts, peanut butter so severe she carries an adult dosage Epi-Pen! I am also allergic to peanuts but also most fish! Shopping is an exercise in creativity because I have to feed everyone and none of them will eat at the same time! Oh and teen daughter refuses to sit with them ! I haven’t seen her at any meals for almost three years! My other issue is that I kid you not these hard sleepers who have been known to not wake during an earthquake and our house alarm going off were in bed with me so I tried to open a candy bar wrapper! I looked up to find my youngest son awake watching me, his brother who I was fostering standing in his crib and I the other two kids sleeping in rooms on the other side of the house arrive at my bedroom door two minutes later. I love them all but I planned on being a business manager not a short order cook for family that I can find no words to describe them!

@@picsandpsalterystudios996 I prefer a guaranteed spot in Valhalla. Ale and Valkyries for eternity! Can you tell me how to be sure I die in battle, covered with the blood of worthy foes I have slain? KTHXBAI. (The "dying in battle" part I can do easy[1], it's the "killing worthy foes" part I have trouble with. Axes are *heavy*. And I don't think guns count. My mom would just make me and my siblings pee in empty plastic water bottles when we were kids. Gross, but it gets the job done. If we needed to poop on the other hand… we just had to suck it up or if we were brave enough, get off the car and poop behind a tree or something.

For goodness sake, we ( my 8 siblings and I ) traveled all over the world with my mom and dad . We were taught to behave and how to conduct ourselves in foreign countries. It was an adventure of a lifetime. I sure do miss it . We never heard our parents say that they would never travel with kids, for us it was "who wants to go to Japan " Or Turkey , or England, or Germany ? We were all over this planet. Our parents took education seriously and this was just part of learning about other places.
@ErykaSoleil
@ErykaSoleil 5 жыл бұрын
Deborah Kelly : You were very fortunate to have parents who could afford to take their entire family-especially a big one-to other countries, and who were loving and patient enough to do it. The fact that they could both even take the time off of work to go on a trip together is a blessing in its own right. It is an enriching experience, I'm sure, and one that I really wish I could have had as a child (my family was very low-income for all of my childhood, and my father had health issues that made travel difficult), and one that I wish I were financially secure enough (and healthy enough) to give to my children. It is important to bear in mind that some people are not mentally and/or physically up to the task of traveling with children. If you are battling anxiety, severe depression, or PTSD, your life with children can become complicated enough without throwing travel on top of it. My husband and I both developed different health issues after we were already parents, which impacted our ability to travel by ourselves, much less with children in tow. And some children simply Do. Not. Travel. Well. One of our kids frequently gets severe motion sickness just driving an hour to the dentist's office, in spite of taking medicine for it ahead of time. (We live in a rural area, so there's a lot of driving to things.) Traveling with kids is enriching and rewarding, but it can also be exhausting, expensive, and gross.
@ErykaSoleil
@ErykaSoleil 5 жыл бұрын
Wolters World : There can be economic, emotional/psychological, and physical factors to consider when traveling with children. When your finances are already strained, when you can't afford time off from your job (if that's even an option where you work), or when you are struggling with mental and/or physical illness, traveling can be a challenge for an adult on their own, much less with kids in tow. And sometimes the child in question does not travel well for some reason; maybe they have an illness to consider, maybe they just get REALLY car sick just driving across town (we have a child who is not helped much by motion sickness medicine). My husband and I would love to be healthy enough to travel with our kids again, but we have some complicated health issues at the moment, so that may take years to accomplish. Sometimes traveling with your kids just isn't a realistic option.

@@ErykaSoleil Yes, we were very fortunate to have the chance to travel. My dad was a fighter pilot and fought in WWII the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He served 33 years. So we got the chance to live all over the world. He is 93 and still takes care of his own business. My mother died in 2010 . I sure miss the traveling and life style.

Ruth Mekuria My sons are 6”6 each! They carry me...revenge came when they announced their having a baby and my prayers were answered ! They are just like their fathers! Carry me! Oh by the way my youngest son ‘s son weighs 54lbs and is taller than all the kids at preschool being 3”9! Carry me is like being forced into carrying a water buffalo especially when he is asleep and like all of the children is a heavy sleeper! I am so glad that I don’t get to carry him! He is athletic with basketball accuracy of 11 of 15 shots in! He has been reading on a third grade level since he was three! His sister is musically inclined and very good with numbers she is 18 months younger and is already working on time tables! I enjoy them when they visit from Arizona! His children are the only grandchildren who literally eat any and everything with no allergies! My grandson tried to force his father to drive 10 hours straight because I was making fried chicken! He ate 4 chicken legs along with 3 servings of both salad and potatoes! His sister was one serving and a chicken leg behind him! They give me hope! The youngest who is five is autistic but I am learning if I put it on my plate first he’ll eat it including some vegetables so there’s hope! Other granddaughter believes Kraft Mac and cheese is gourmet food! Her mother just got a job paying a living wage and for the first time my granddaughter has a bed she isn’t sharing! She was amazed at finding out that I allow seconds at dinner and desserts! I was buying groceries for her mother’s siblings also since her mother’s disabled and the kids are all underage for employment! I give her credit she has raised an extremely smart child who is polite and loving ! She is a good eater and will eat as much food as possible and I always send groceries with them! Her uncle took me to the side ( he’s 15) and told me he wanted to thank me because I brought food for everyone, got my granddaughter school clothes every year and even though her mother and my son aren’t together they appreciate that I never held it against them! I have paid for$100 per 30 day supplies of medication and regularly get her from school! I also pay for all of my grandchildren’s school clothes and there are five of them right now! I feel blessed that if all they are is picky then I truly have no worries. We almost lost the five year old who is autistic to an asthma attack so severe that he stopped breathing while I was getting him into the emergency room! They may range from picky but I love them with all of my heart! And the five year old grandson I adopted as my son and he can’t read but understands the concept of photosynthesis, water conservancy and is an out of the box thinker! I love my husband diet and all! He is heading towards total kidney failure so I monitor his diet so strictly I have gotten love notes from his doctors! Let us all realize that no matter how picky, however much they drive us crazy at the end of the day and vacations we all can say truthfully best vacation ever!

On vacation & the drive to or from where we were going,we used to get in trouble for ordering something that "You can get that anywhere. Pick something else.". That or wanting to stop at a truck stop in Muscle Shoals Am when our Grandparents' place near Decatur was just 45 minutes more to go. To this day, when I drive a crew van to Sheffield Alabama, I can't stop at Arnold's to get a cup of coffee for the return trip to Memphis.

🤣🤣First one is universal! My dad use to tell us that he prefer going on trips with us the most,even if it's annoying it's still better with much more memories,my mum in the other hand hated vacancies, she preferred being with my dad alone and we stay at grand ma house(which we did it often)my mum was a stay home mother,she had us all year long,my dad worked so for him weekend were mostly visiting relatives because my mum decided so and the only memories he had with us was when we use to go the beach,travelling in car ,parks and hiking.

Had a station wagon in late 70s that the very back by window lifted up with two small bench seats and a hole in floor...yep you guessed it 😁. Anyways yeah kids can be a double edged sword when it comes to vaycays. Mine actually weren't too bad.

My mother watched me cook for all of the kids and said it was like watching a disaster/comedy! This was a real example of how you don’t know whether to laugh or cry! Lol too funny! My friends son had a melt down because she gave him a little plate of raisins and a sliced apple, she put it in from of him and he just wailed! I happen to be visiting her (we went to high school together), and sitting at the kitchen table with her and her son.. apparently it didn’t startle her but I almost jumped out of my skin because I didn’t expect her son to cry out loud, she didn’t get mad or scold her son or even tell him to calm down, she just calmly asked, “What’s wrong, Koa”? (they’re Hawaiian), Koa is still crying his head off… “I wanted them in separate paper cups! I don’t want them touching”! My friend got up, looked for paper cups, she didn’t have any and said in a sweet voice, “honey, I don’t have paper cups, how about just two cute mugs”? And Koa’s loud crying stopped in a split second, Ok! With a big smile on his face. While that was going on, my friend said to her son, in a calm way, no stern in her voice, “Koa, you know mommy can’t understand you when you scream and talk in a crying voice”, (because she had to ask him a couple of times why is he crying)..”remember I told you, talk to me like I’m an adult… the kid was four at the time! Lol…Her son didn’t even finish his snack and ran off to play with his toys. I was a bit rattled after that and I wasn’t expecting an apology from her for her son having a melt down, some kids have melt downs. But she just laughed it off, said to me, I’m teaching my son to talk like an adult so we can communicate better and she said she never spanks him and never sends him to his room if he does something wrong. He son actually threw something at me! Luckily I caught it and I wanted to spank him and send him to his room! My friend just said, Oh Koa! And laughed.. I didn’t go visit my friend after that, only when we were with a group of friends. Her son is 14 now and just a weird kid. Lol, she brags about her son on Facebook like he’s the smartest kid on earth. I know she loves her son, but she also has two older daughters she never talks about, very odd.

I'm the oldest of nine children, I don't think we ever all went on a vacation together. The biggest car when I was a kid was a station wagon that would hold 9, but with my parents that was 11 so we never went all at once. I remember suggesting a VW bus, but my father put the kibosh on that idea quick.
