I remember when I was young, my Dad had "given" me a super cute black and white calf. She had white on her legs and belly and face. I remember one day Dad saying he was going to go work cattle one day and give them shots. I asked him what shots he was going to give them and he rattled off whatever it was, but the one I recall was BLACKLEG!!!!! I started crying and crying when he said that! Dad says good grief girl! What is wrong??? I said, "I don't want my calf to have black legs!! I like her white ones!"" Hope that story gives you a chuckle in the mist of your tough time!

Everyone is so scared to give their animals any medications because we want to be all natural. But honest to god, to really is saving their lives. Some of these things are really a no-brainer.

Oh my Andrea. So sorry that you had to lose four calves. But thankful that it was only four and that the fix was so easily done. I'm with you I'd rather spend $32.95 on the possibility that the vaccine would be needed than lose four head. Oh my goodness she is adorable little Hope she's positively a beautiful little spotted calf.. Thanks for sharing this update with us. Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe. Glad you are back, been missing you. Prayers for your Dad, hope he is much improved. When I saw Ben in the chute I thought about my husband and a talk we have been needing to have!! Football is getting in the way right now. This was a tough lesson to learn and losing four calves really hurt. Thanks for sharing this with us, it was an important lesson for all of us.

You should never wait until they get black leg, when are calves are born we give them a shot for black leg after 3 months
