Quick tip, I always but my beef in the freezer for a little bit before freezing. That way the juices wont run up into the seal. Also if you want to seal soup or sauces. I put it in a plastic container. like a lunch meat package. freeze the soup, pop it out then seal the soup/sauce.

Someone gave me a tip once so thought I’d pass along. When you’re putting something in a bag, turn the outside edges inside out a few inches. It will keep the juice from a chicken breast touching the outside of the bag and also the food saver. Thanks for the video!

This isn't silly at all! Thank you so much. My husband left town and told me to put some stuff in the food saver to freeze, I froze! I had no idea how to use it. I did see the instructions on the lid of the food saver but I'm a visual learner so thank you so much. My hubby will be so proud!

I bought a bag holder and it works great to get the food in the bag without any struggle. I originally bought them so I could get my homemade tomato sauce in a large ziplock without spilling it, but i found it works well for bagging meats too. I accidentally bought those little bag and found they are perfect for chopped veggies like onions, green peppers, celery or even a mirepoix. If you use the whole bag, it can hold about a cup and a half of chopped veggies. If you cut the bag in half, take the top half (both ends are now unsealed) and put it in your machine to seal one side. Then put in 1/2 to 3/4 cup of chopped veggies into each bag and vacuum seal. I love having some prepped veggies in the freezer which makes getting dinner on the table much quicker. I just found your channel and subscribed. Thanks for all the great info!

Thanks for sharing our vacuum seal bags. The liquid block bags are best for foods that have a lot of juices like fish or beef. The absorbent strips will catch the liquids before they get in your machine and ruin your seal.

How generous of the company to send you 200 bags for a review! I know pre-cut bags are usually more expensive than rolls, so I’m happy for you to get them. I will remember this brand next time I need to purchase vacuum sealer bags, it’s great to have options.

I have the exact same food saver, I've only used rolled bags but when it.comes to something liquidy such as potato soup or chili I pour it into a plastic container/bowl with a lid and put that in the freezer. Once solid I pop it out, like an ice cube, and then vac seal it. Works like a charm =)

Hi thank you for your video. A little tip you may want to try especially with wet food or meats is fold to top of the bag this keeps the bag clean where it seals oh and if you have another cutting board place it at the front of the machine this keeps the bag from slipping out . Thanks again.

Thanks for all the good advice about putting chicken in saran wrap and then sealing it. I wasted so many bags and was finally able to get everything to seal.

I just went through a struggle with fresh chicken breasts let me tell you. I feel like the chicken juice being drawn out was causing problems with suction and also the sealing. Although there was ample space I noted some of the seals were coming undone afterwards because of moisture. I was thinking about patting my chicken dry but I think your solution sounds pretty good

Newbie here learning about vacuuming sealing foods... I've decided that I will only seal the product whole. I can cut them into the shapes I need them after they're thawed. That way, I'm not forced to rely on my pre-prepared shape. Can't make a BBQ chicken sandwich with chopped up chicken! 🐥

When I seal anything with moisture, I always freeze it first. I put meat on a tray lined with parchment, spread it out so the pieces don't stick together. When frozen (they don't need to be rock hard, just no longer wet) put them in the vac bags, vac and seal. Works well.

I saw a hack somewhere on KZbin you can put a strip of paper towel under where it seals to stop the liquid. Just like those bigger bags they sent ya . I may buy some of those bags. Thanks for sharing this !

Does marinating the chicken before sealing it affect the texture of The meet at all?
@GreatLakesPrepping Жыл бұрын
Not in my experience. Though I don't tend to leave marinated chicken in the freezer for super long...maybe only a month or two. But I can't really see why it would change much with the texture even at a year. It's not really doing any tenderizing while it's frozen.

best way to do liquid is to prepare and freeze first then vacuum seal. Works great.

Thank you for your great video! In the manual its says for better results pre-freeze for 1 hour or 2 before vaccum sealing. Whats your thought on that? Thank you!
@GreatLakesPrepping Жыл бұрын
Thanks! For certain things, I definitely pre-freeze. Basically, if I'm worried that the vacuum-sealing action might squish or squeeze or deform the thing I want to seal, I will pre-freeze first. Sausages are a great example. The sealing bag will squeeze them way too much, but if I freeze the sausages on a baking sheet for a couple hours first, they'll be nice and hard and then I will vacuum seal. Same thing with a lot of vegetables. But for raw chicken, it doesn't get squished or deformed, so I don't tend to pre-freeze.

My chicken breast never seemed to seal all the air out of it
@GreatLakesPrepping2 жыл бұрын
Are you seeing something that looks like a thin pocket of air all the way around the "perimeter" of the chicken breast? If so, that's normal, and sort of a side effect of the meat being slightly squishy. This isn't a problem. If your bag still has air all throughout it, on the other hand, there must be some other issue at play.
@dizziechef95022 жыл бұрын
I buy large breasts, cut each in middle length wise. That way I have two breasts out of one. I do to like to use odd sizes of breasts for strips or buy a smaller breast for strips or chunks or pieces too for stir fry sizes. I’m with you guy on the meat.
